what kind of power would a srx 700 with race porting, head work to match porting, stock pipes, and maybe 38mm carbs be?
about 170hp, with the stock pipes being the limiting factor, to get more from a 700 youll need aftermarket larger volume pipes.
wowww i'm pretty sure its not on pump gaz or i really misss something

im looking to keep it stock looking besides the heads. just wondering how far a little 700 can go before pipes. thanks for the quick response.

no, he said "full race", that means 100-104 octane fuel

I have seen a dyno sheet of a SRX PS700 that is a smidge over 200HP, might even be the same sled that youre referring to... but keep in mind prostockers don't use stock pipes so not a good example.extremelyfastmax4 said:no some one thats got a pro stock 700srx @ 192 hp. the same guy allso has the first one he built as a bender set up @ 184 hp
Realistic is 158HP on some good porting and head re-shaping with v-force reeds, stock pipe and stock carbs. 162 if you leaned on it hard, I think 170 is a stretch.
Absolutely the stock pipes are the limiting factor...

Its not a stretch, 158hp is mere trail power, lol!!!! He said "full race port", which means: ported case, ported cylinders, max compression,38mm carbs, reeds, reed spacers, timing key, modded pistons, lightpins, and still use stock pipes.
You hit a wall at the upper 168-170hp because the pipes volume simply wont keep up to the rest of the engine.

What about a viper? Do the viper triple pipes flow any better than stock srx pipes? i was thinking SLP in particular since that is what i have.

how far can you go before you get to full race? i mean what kind of power level is a step under race? full race would be nice but could a guy go full race and change domes to be trailable on pump gas?

no, you cant just change the domes on a full race engine and "trail ride it".
you can trail ride a "lake racer" type engine, something around 160-162 hp with a compression change(lower and with more squish clearance) without too much problems. It would still be a little more high strung and not a lower end power type engine. This would be a step up from the basic trail port, which make mid 150's hp with no case porting, stock carbs.
"Lake racer" would be all the race items except the cyl. porting and the timing, compression are not near as "hot", you could still run the 38mm carbs.
crazykid, thats a whole differnt subject, the viper aftermarket pipes are better then stock srx pipes as far as accepting mods on a engine.

I JUST DYNOED MY 2000 SRX AT C & H THIS PAST SUMMER. MOTOR IS STILL AT SPEC FOR STOCK CLASS RACING. I HAVE LESS THAN WHAT YOU OFFERED HERE. I RUN STOCK REEDS AND CARBS. WITH YOUR RACE BOX, 160.7 WAS PEAK, MY HP INCRESED FROM 8100 TO 8600. MY PEAK TORQUE WAS I THINK AROUND 121lbs. (might be wrong )I CAN GET MY SHEETS OUT TO BE SHURE. I THINK DON IS RIGHT ON HERE. I DON,T HAVE A FULL RACE MOTOR. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i dont have a clue on that. ive read about port mapping but its all mumbo jumbo to me.

do u suggest that running tripple pipe from a viper on a srx would help the srx in hp gain

Im really sorry i hijacked you thread madzx2, But i would like to thank mrviper, He answered my question perfectly. Now modsrx, I think you are misunderstanding my question and mrvipers answer, I was asking if the viper triple pipes ON A "VIPER" would have the same limiting factor that the srx stock pipes had ON A "SRX", He answered that the viper pipes ON A "VIPER", would accept mods better ON A "VIPER" than stock srx pipes would ON A "SRX". Thanks again Mrviper

i understand but i still would like to know if viper pipe on srx would work better ....maybe the difference in timing would not be good for those pipe in a srx
