Over the years I have tried all of these clutches on my Yamahas.
Heres what I found:
Polaris P85:
-these clutches work very well and are relatively inexspensive to aquire
-tuning parts are widely available
-changed my 1981 SRX improve stocker to Polaris primary + secondary clutches and gained 10mph on top end!
Comet 108c:
-same benifits as Polaris P85 as far as availabilty and tuning
- I found them a little harder on bushings
-lighter then the 1995 + newer Yamaha primaries
-tried one on my 1999 improve stock SX700 but quickly returned to the Yamaha primary
Comet 4 Pro:
-I still run one of these with a "911 cover"on my trail mod 1996 VMAX 4[Aaen piped, ported, 136"]
-I like these clutches but they are a little heavy and very sensitive to tuning
Stock Yamaha Primary:
-since Yamaha updated their primaries in 1995 the stock primaries are VERY good
-easy to rebuild
-very durable
-efficient
-easy to tune
-I ran the stock primaries on most of the sleds I raced and currently trail ride since 1995
[Vmax 4 Mod, SX 600 + 700 improve stock, 2002 SRX]
From my experience, any pre 1995 Yamaha primary could be improved on with any of the previous mentioned cluches but the later ones are the best choice.
