i'm pretty sure you'll be overshifting w/stock 47deg helix and heel clickers. the srx's i've tested w/in the past did so.
 
where do u want it shifting at around 8400 and what helix would u recommend or spring for the secondary and is the heel clickers a nice set up
 
For your '01 srx, run it at 8500 rpm. When I say overshifting, I mean it will run at let's say 8500 rpm up till about 90-100mph and then the rpms will start dropping, as the secondary keeps shifting a little too fast, for what the motor can handle. Guys run anywhere from 50/40 to 48/36 helixs and red stock spring or the slightly stiffer green spring. Heel clickers are fine for tight trails and shorter drags, but not the best choice for top end.....imo.
 
thanks i will see if i can find a helix will i lose much top speed with heel clickers rather than the stock set up im hoping the heel clickers has noticable gains also where do you want the inital engagement at

I'm pretty sure my buddies '00 stock srx did only like 105mph on the dream-o-meter when he had heel clickers in there. Maybe w/more playing around, a guy could have gotten better top mph, but I know his now does 110mph w/heavy hitters in there, w/ secondary the same. I personally like around 4500 rpm engagement. I've also ran my stuff w/5000 rpm engagement. They were different setups.
 
Don't you need a shallow helix too see bigger numbers with the heelclickers. I run them and can only get just over 100mph but it gets there in a dam hurry. I'm more into drag racing than radar runs so they work fine for me with Dalton 50/38 and green spring and a silver spring
 
At the end of last season I did the loaded 8DN (stock 02 weight), Y-S-Y spring, 54/44, silver at 6/2 set up-and I was very impressed.
Lower engagement but strong low end and throttle response and the tone of the engine seemed even deeper. Top end was improved and could put 2 sleds or so on a fast 03 F7 and burry the dream o meter. Did realize the next day that in heavy wet snow and warm temps the sled was a dog and couldnt pull the weight but otherwise in normal conditions, this set up was pretty inexpensive and effective.

yeah, that helps. that's why is said in my previous post that guys run a helix anywhere from 50/40 to 48/36, instead of the stock 47.

I RAN 51-37 IN MY 2000 SRX FOR ICE AND GRASS WITH H/C. GREAT DRAG RACE WEIGHT. VERY SIMILAR TO 8BU. SOME SAY EVEN BETTER. I DON,T THINK THEY ARE BETTER. I DON,T RECOMEND THEM FOR LONG PULLS. TELLING YOU GUYS, 8BU-10,s WILL WALK RIGHT ON BY. 3;16 (yammie tony)
 
mine has stock 15.6 rollers would you guys change any of that or change anything else or leave it alone i got some friends with ski doos i need to beat on
