That's one hot lookin Viper Super! I'm thinking I'm gonna need more than the 1" riser block I have on there right now? Maybe a three inch...

I paid in advance to get the new Boss seat in August and am going to sell my old Boss seat (already sold), I was suppose to get it in September but I got an email from Boss saying that they were having delays with one of their vendors so from what he said they justed started making seats about a 1-2 weeks ago and are VERY behind schedule. They are still trying to get the paid in advance cusotmer's seats shipped out like mine. Kinda sucks but as long as I get it before the snow flies! I love my old Boss seat!
Get the older version if you can, that new all black version looks like a seat having trouble pushing out a crap. I used to not like the styling of the older boss seats but by comparison, the older is way better.
I used a nitro/apexmtx rear tailight and countersunk it into the foam, looks alot more factory and wow, is it ever hard on the eyes, alot brighter than my apex light.

I use the standard covers for our sleds, But I only use them for dust covers as we have a fully enclosed 24' trailer. I will try to get a photo of my tail light assy. I basically used a LED oval tail light and mount assy, I installed the mount in the aft pocket and flushed in the light. I am going to try and use the stock tail light on the Viper. I am sure it will turn out great. Allan

Scott, but the newer ones are improved with better foam and zippers....supposedly. Sounds like a good idea w/the apex mtn tailight. I like the viper tailight-- I'd like to do a viper light with led bulbs? Can it be done?

Viper48, that's not good--- if I ordered one now I'd be lucky to get it before Jan.....?
If you order now, you will have it before Dec 1. Actually I was told I the delivery date on mine is Oct 26. The further you wait the longer the line gets. Just like last year. I am just surprised another company has not stepped up to offer an alternative. $400 is alot of money with alot of mark up. Al
I don't think the space is there for that tall light. The rx1 light was doable but would have required some sewing and more mods to the inside of the seat so I went the easy way.

Just ordered one- they said I should get it in 3-4 weeks. I'll have to start looking at tailights and riser block options.

Ordered mine last week, hopefully I'll get it before december. Found an almost new one on sw last spring (09/10) model, but decided to go for the 10/11 seat, because of the improvements to the zippers and materials Boss says they made.

I paid in advance on 8/10 to have it deliver sometime in September. So hopefully I will be seeing mine soon. From what Boss said they are behind schedule due to vendor issues. But as of 10/4 they said they had started production and hope to get the prepaid customers' seats out soon...whatever that means.....Good luck to those of you who just ordered one.....

Prior to 2010 Boss seats were hand made. they carved the foam by hand and stitched up the fabric. That's why they were much more expensive and you could really get a personalized seat exactly how you wanted it. They also took forever and obviously could only crank out a limited number of seats....
Then Boss joined forces with Arctic Cat to make seats for them, which you will find on the M sleds. The first year was a disaster for 'Cat --- Boss couldn't make any deadlines and many 'Cats shipped with a substitute seat and a voucher for a Boss seat later, when they were available.
The Boss went to an Automated seat fabrication process..... Hence, the new seat. They can crank them out in great quantities and lower the price which they can sell them.
They are still really nice, but I'm not sure I would call them "improved" by any stretch.......
And it seems like Boss still takes forever to ship!
But hey, don't anybody feel bad about waiting. Mine was a custom order job. I placed the order in June and waited and waited and waited.
The seat finally showed up sometime in October after several phone calls by me to about everybody demanding my money back...... This was last summer.
And incidentally, I have heard mine was the very last custom order seat Boss produced and shipped -- at least for the Yamaha Viper/ SRX chasis. Not that it really matters or anything.....
But I went all out and had them raise even the Boss Highrise Widetop even more -- like 2' higher than other Highrises and custom colors, etc.
But despite all that, IMHO they are 100% worth the total hassle and wait because Boss seats are that good....

i searched all over to find a boss retailer that shipped for free... I FOUND ONE! snowbigdeal.com will ship the seat for free. however, they dont sell the seat with an optional LED tail light. that doesnt matter to me, because i will rig an aftermarket one up. free shipping saves about $40 extra bucks!

I'm thinking about going with a Yammy Nytro LED light like Mad Max mentioned, but then was reading another thread and someone said the LED's get covered with snow/ice and won't melt it away like the old standard bulbs.... anybody else run into this?

LED's are so bright that even if they get covered by snowdust they shine through it anyways. I'd go LED hands down.

Snow build up has not been an issue. The LED Nytro light is extremely bright. Especilly in bright sunlight. You won't regret it.

i totally understand what people say about the snow build up.... the standard bulbs give off a lot of heat and melt it all away! i just think of it this way; if LED tailights are not safe and snow builds up on them to a point where they are not vivsable, Yamaha would not use them as standard equipment on their new models. it would be to much of a liabilty. so i say LED all the way!! -kuips
