I fixed this before... a couple seasons ago. But, my front heat exchanger is badly beat up from a dance with a rock. As I'm putting this thing back together I took the heat exchanger out of tunnel to straighten it out, now I've cracked it again :whine: and I'm having a hard time repairing it with the Alumabraze like I did last time, #$%&* this time the crack is on the front in a fold. Because of the damage I think I'm going to replace it. I found a heat exchanger from an 01 VENTURE 600 on Ebay for $80 +15 shipping. I'm pretty sure it will fit, (it looks pretty much the same w/o the damage of course), but I just wanted to ask. :dunno:

It's the same thing. You could buy that one or you could have it TIG welded and that will fix it, I had to TIG mine back together after a stud ran through mine and it works very well. Any weld shop should be able to fix it for you, as far as price it will probably be cheaper than buying the one off ebay but for the extra cash you will not have to wonder if it will leak when you get it in place.

Heat exchanger

Ive got one I'll sell for $65 shipped. I can ge photo's tonight of the front and back so you can see if it is the right one. PM me your e-mail and I'll send the photos. For the amount of work it takes to remove and reinstall one of these I'm not sure I'd ever repair one and hope it holds.

Madmatt, I PM'd my email to you. I figure it will be better to replace it. I did some looking at the microfiche last night, earlier then 2000 and they are sold as part of the front frame, but the 2000 and up the heat exchanger is sold separately, and it looks like any thing with the Redhead motor is the same heat exchanger, so the sx/ventures/vmaxs/sxrs are the same. The one I have is pretty beat up, so even if I get it repaired it's not straight and won't fit the belly pan since the rivets had all pulled out along the bottom and there was a 1/2" gap there.
