HELLO everyone ,looking for a little advice on clutching my sons 2000 600 sxr ,it needs new weights anyway ,there worn out ,so what would be the best set up ,he,s around 225 lbs and drives hard ,it also has a roller rooster on it ,not sure what helix is on it now, any help would be greatly appreciated .Thanks

Hi again ,checked over the sxr last night and the helix is a 47/41 roller rooster with a black spring at 80 twist, and I forgot to mention it has v force 3 reeds and we drilled out the muffler , the primary is stock, the engine was re ringed at 18000 kms ,and it has 25000 on it now ,the sled is mint for the mileage ,do you think I should do the head gasket thing or just leave it with that many kms?

it's up to you.Mine was done a few years back and no issues.Just used spray tack on the gasket before installing.I will be re-building my 600 in the next few weeks and will still use a single layer gasket on her again.Every little bit helps..remember to use premium gas after the mod.

That is an insanely steep helix for a 600 sxr. In order to use that helix again your gonna have to run the stock weights/stock configuration. The 600 trips had a massive overrev & looks like they used a steep helix to bring rpm,s down 5-600 rpm. That clutching will be ok on groomed trails but if you get into any deep snow with that setup the sled will fall on it,s face.

Hey Turk what would you suggest for a helix and where do you get them for a roller rooster or just get rid of the roller and go back to a regular helix with better clutching. Thanks again .

Once your secondary is machined for that roller u can,t go back. If your interested I can swap you for a complete stock secondary. I live in canada so shipping is easy. I can also tell you how to set up your primary weights so rpm,s will be dead nuts on.

Would that helix set up be any good on my viper s ,its all stock for now but I want to something with the clutching it to make it pull better.I already tried the green spring 53/43 on my last viper but would like more.

It,s a little too steep for the viper. it translates into a 57/51 if you were to buy a helix like a dalton or similar.

Where do you live ? I 'll talk to my son to see if he wants to change it ,maybe we can do a swap for another secondary plus his weights are worn out ,very lumpy on the ramps ,if you have a hole set up we could do some kind of trade.
Thanks Larry

YEP THATS FAR ! how should I set up this thing without the roller ,I have a stock secondary anyway and I have a buyer for the roller rooster,my son will be riding it and he's around 250 lbs, likes to give r when he can .

stock cam 47 degree wind secondary to 80 wrap.
3.6 gram rivets inn & outer in the primary weights.
