Thumb & Handlebar resistor switch

I have a 2000 SXr with 1 switch that operates the thumb & handlebar warmers. Is it possible & will it work if I split the wires going to the switch for the thumb warmer & put that on another switch. This way each warmer will
have it's own controller.

Yup, should work. right now they are in series and you are going to wire it in series parallel. IF you turn the thumb armern down the hand warmers may get warmer and if you turn up the thumb the handwarmers may get a lilttle cooler as the current draw will change when one or the other is turned up.
