just wanna say that this is an awesome site, filled with awesome people.
i have a few questions.
-my dad bought a 97 SX7 with hauck pipes, can anyone tell me what they are supposed to run at RPM wise?
-i put a 2008 nytro rtx rear suspen. in my 1997 sx7. and the bumper heights are as followed. 27inches in the rear, and 15inches in the front. do i have to raise the front up, or can i just leave it.
-any setup tips for this suspen?
-im looking at putting a 4inch riser on (i already have a 2.5) i know i will have to get longer throttle/oil cables, what about brake line?

love the rear!!! did it bolt right up??? I dont see any new holes!!!???
Viper trailing arms and spindles would help the front i think..... skis with saddles..... even a Long travel kit...(longer radius rods, steering rod, and shocks.... viper shocks can be made to work.... just have to mess with the upper mounts...)
I have recently learned that XTC front components are the same as long travel for the SX and SRX.... mountain performance made a nice kit back in the day!!! or find a set of shocks, radius rods, steering rod off an XTC!!!

looks like full shift RPM on that sled should be 8300.....

8300 with stock pipes...8700 with hauck pipes. Your power curve changes which is why you need to reclutch, so that you are taking advantage of your new power curve.

i have Viper long travel shocks on the front already. the RTX skid mounted using a set of drop brackets that we made to rivet to the tunnel, and we used the stock hole to put a bolt through for extra strength. the front hole is mounted in between the support bar near the foot well of the tunnel. so if you can imagine /. / (the "." being the bolt and / / being the support brace.) was actually a very easy install. just a matter of measuring and drilling.

might have to take out some spring pre load in the front of the skid if steering is too light. could also put widening and lift brakets on the front end. been a few years since i have seen some though.

It may not handle very well on the trail being angled forward like that. There will be a good amount of pressure on the front of the skis (darting).
I think you are going to have a heck of a time turning when you let off the gas... your front end will want to nose dive. I had that problem when I put drop brackets on my rear suspension until I raised my front suspension. Made a world of difference.
Your front end looks really low for having viper shocks on it. On my srx I put on shocks from a 2002 rmk (17" eye to eye) and viper radius rods. I ended up with about 20" of clearance under my front bumper. That levelled out my sled really good.

thank you for the input so far guys, the drop brackets were the only way that skid will fit in the tunnel. how would i go about making lift brackets?
the bumper height in front is 15" and rear is 27"... anyone care to measure the front stock height of a SXR?

Mine is 16 3/4" to the bottom of the front bumper. I think in order to raise the front you need to lower the rear but keep the front skid bolt in the same place. When you lift the rear and set it down what part of the track touches first?

we have the sled low as to the ground as possible, i cant go any lower without the bolt touching/being in the running board exchanger. and if i go above the cooler (into the tunnel) the skid wont fit. and the track all touches at the same time.
I didn't read through the whole thread but you may have lost a inch in the front due to the mount hole height of those skis...
What's the sit in?? IE How much does it squat when you climb on it?
How are those viper shocks mounted up top? Is top bolt higher than the original mounting point on your bulkhead? I would guess that that is where you would have to change things to raise your front suspension.

none.... im 16years old and weigh 125lbs...
You want it to squat a little when you get on. This will help to lessen the rake from front to rear. Maybe soften up the springs a bunch and see what it does.

im pretty sure its as soft as it gets, only the front shock has a spring. they are both dual clicker shocks (rebound and dampning?) everything is soft as possible.
we ride ditches alot, and although young and lightweight, i ride very hard, broken a few proactions ( W-arms and busted shocks wide open) so i upgraded
