i know i have another thread going, but im trying to keep that one clear of clutter.
My 1997 SX7 is set up to run a 8DN belt, my dads 97 SX7 (hauck pipes) is set up to run an 8CH belt. is the 8DN any better and if so, what has to be done to convert his sled to run the 8DN?
also which is better 8DN....-00 or 8DN....-01?

I think both belts are similar dimension wise just one is softer than the other which requires slightly different clutching.
8DN is a harder belt than the 8CH size is the same
this from yamaha for the sx, switching from the 8ch to 8dn: outer rivets change from 10.3 steel to 13.9 steel. inners from 13.3 steel to 13.9 steel. rollers change from 15mm to 14.5mm. set the secondary to achieve the correct belt tension.

MAN TRYING TO REMEMBER HERE. THE 8DN-00 WAS STOCK SRX BELT IS VERY VERY HARD COMPOUND. THE 8DN-01 IS SAME EXCEPT SLIGHTLY WIDER. THIS BELT WAS REVISED FOR CURRENT 4 STROKE SLED. THE 8CH IS SOFTER COMPOUND BUT I THINK SLIGHTLY SHORTER. I COULD BE WRONG THOUGH ON THE 8CH. 3:16 (yammie tony)
the 8ch is wider , shorter, and thinner than the 8dn-00

wider and thinner? please calrify.
im assuming its wider like left/right and thinner up/down
thanks for the info!

8CH: W 35mm, L 1118-1130mm. 8DN: W 34.5mm, L 1129-1137mm. the 8DN appears "thicker" due to the top cogs vs the smooth back on the 8CH.
The 8dn is harder compound. Your gonna need to run a little more primary weight because it slips a little more & u need the weight to grab the belt better.
