SRX gearing

What gearing does the 2001 SRX come with stock?
what would someone recomend for gearing for up to 600-2000' races?

Also i know there are many suggestions for clutch set ups both in these threads and in the tech section. But I have read that there are some really good set ups using all stock parts. any suggestions

stock is 23/38 with 70L chain

I would use 20/40 for 600 feet

stock gearing for anything for anything 1000 and over
 
So if you would use stock gearing how could you get a better speed and time in the 1000' race remaining stock? clutch, carbs? i am not in terested in getting into the motor with such low mileage on my sled. Also where do you buy the gears at? Do you need a new chain when you change gears?Is it as easy as ataking the chaincase cover of and just taking them off?
 
Its all about getting your rpm's right. If your clutches are still stock change the bottom rivet on your weights to a 4.5 gram rivet. Get your hands on a 54/44 or 53/43 helix and a green secondary spring, wrap it at 60 Degrees or 70 depending on conditions and you will have a very good set up for like $150 and an hour of install time. For speed runs or drags concentrate on getting your transfer and suspension right to really fly.
 
And just leave your gears where they are for trail riding and 1000ft and above drags and speed runs A bone stock sled needs some serious test and tune time to be competitive in 660' drags, making it not bone stock anymore. U get what I'm sayin here. Trail ride the heck outta that thing and maybe hit some radar runs and just enjoy it. The SRX is a wicked ride if u aint never ridden one.

Yes Tomseal6, help me. I am new to all this so just asking questions. i know them may seem frivilous to some of the pros or veterans on here but there is no better way to learn than ask, especially with the wealth of info on here.

Whats the stock helix on a SRX?
Also where would I get those items?
When you say transfer you mean install transer rods and adjust the limiter straps so the font end doesn't lift alot?
 
Stock helix is a 47 straight. The helix u can get from Dalton, Hauck, and other aftermarket companys. U can get the rivets and spring from your local dealer or Hauck who is a dealer. I just keep bringing up Hauck because I usually order parts from them being they are a home state company. And yes on the transfer question. Keep the front end low and track flat.
 
I know this may sound stupid to you more experienced people but what do the rivits do?
