Looks like I will be riding with an Artic Crap this year

My step brother, who I will be going up to the house in Maine with this year rides an AC ZRT 600 trip. I will say it is VERY well maintained. I still have to bust 'em on him every chance I can.
Like today we went to the dealer to get some items for one of his sleds to get it ready for this year. Nonchalantly I said "I should probably get a tow strap huh?
He looked at me and then I said "for when you break down"
Hahahahaha
then he was at the parts counter and his friend who was with us, he and I was looking around and found a rack of team jackets for $50 clearance (actually there were some awesome deals)
He found a nice team Artic Cat jacket, tried it on and says "how does it look?"
I said "Good, I just hope it's warm so when you break down you will be ok"
With all this ball busting going on I better hope my Yammie stays together. LOL

It is so well known that Arctic Craps are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to being dependable. I sometimes wonder why so many people continue to buy them. They may be some of the fastest and best handling sleds out of the crate, but what good is it when you can't depend on them. I've seen many situations where guys running the AC's have inadvertently ruined others days by breaking down. Sure we all break down on occasion but it seems AC's are more the typical.

Zachalyse hit the nail on the head. They may be fast, and handle awesome, but its just that they break down all the time, and LOVE to burn down cylinders. Every season my Yamaha never has a bobble(OK, OK, one season I had a plug cap go on the sled!), but my neighbour spends hours and lots of $$$ fixing his Pantera and his F7.

One fella that I know, who rides AC, always goes on a rant when I start busting his balls about their lack of dependability. ""AC riders are one with the machine, you have to know them inside and out, it's something we know and accept going into it"". Thats all fine and whatnot, but I'll stick to riding my SRX instead of wrenching on a ZRT.

great thread, gotta love bashing the ditch pickles. Everytime I see one for sale the ad is very typical, they usually start with "engine just rebuilt". I have 2 vmax-4's and between them they have 50,000 km's(about 32,000miles), I havent owned them since new but I havent rebuilt them and both previous owners did not. Both will still run up to 100mph on the speedo pretty darn quick and still want to go. I bet youd need a truckload of pistons for an arctic cat to get that far. I wonder how many '93 craps it would take to run up 32,000 miles on the odometer, maybe the entire production run?
