How hard would it be to put a Polaris extra 10 in my 02 srx? Has anyone done this I now they used to put them in the old vmaxs
Is the Xtra 10 the one out of the Edge chassis sleds? If it is then apparently it is an easy and worthwhile mod.

Not sure of the differences between the Edge and xtra10 but the xtra10 would be my choice but I spent a lot of time with mine years ago so I'm familiar with it.
IMO a great choice in big bump skids and easily tuned.

I put an X-10 in my 98 SRX a couple years back, night and day difference, pic of my SRX is my avatar with it installed. Was easy, about 2-3 hrs time from into the shop, take apart, do some measuring, some drilling, rivet in a couple plates, install new skid, adjust track, and back on the trail.

The xtra 10 is a really good skid, the edge skid has supposedly more travel, but more of that 13.x inches of the edge rear skid is travel in an arc, like cat has used all those years to measure suspension total inches. I have a feeling the xtra 10 , if measured like the other skids is more than 10". travel.
that said, in an SRX, the xtra 10 is probably a better skid than the edge simply due to the slightly lower rear end height, and less drag from the skid. The xtra 10 is certainly a faster skid than the edge.
Now, since I have owned 2 xtra 10 sleds, and still have 1, the skid is very well built, not overly heavy, and works very well.
An xtra 10 with rebuildable gas shocks is much better than any proaction skid hands down.

I've just installed an Xtra 10 with Fox shocks from an XC700 in my Exciter II.
I'm not sure about your first point. When SnoGoer first tested the Xtra 10 it had about 8.5 inches of travel. But like you said there are different ways to measure.
The Xtra 10 front torque arm is prone to breaking, although it's not too hard to disassemble and weld. Check used skids closely. Also, the rear axle adjusters tend to break off of the side rails easily.

Never had either issue with mine.

goody 700 you said you did it do you have measurements as ruff guideline as i dont have a donor sled to measure

I got the measurements off jbshocks.com. I went to look there, and it doesn't appear the link in the Tech Related section works anymore. You may want to research it online google, etc.
I don't have the sled anymore, so I'm no help.

Found the measurements, here they are:
Both front and rear mounting holes are 5 1/4" down from top of tunnel.
From flat of jackshaft measure --11 5/8" and 34 11/16"
These are center of mounting holes.
There should be 23 1/16" between the 11 5/8" and the 34 11/16" measurements.
Hope this helps.

Hope it works out for you, pretty easy swap. I had my X-10 set up for holeshots. I had the rear scissor blocks out, and the front limiter straps with about 1/2" of threads showing. Would pick up the skis about 18" from the dig and then settle them down to about 6-8" off the trail til about 75-80 MPH. I always liked the looks I'd get riding by a group of parked sleds and people @ about 15-20 MPH and then giving her hell next to em , watch them all stare when the skis are off the ground a foot til about 50...fun stuff...

that sounds like a hell of a time im hopeing to be able to do it this weekend now as i said im new to this but the rear scissor blocks are the little rubber stoppers at the back of the track on the bottom correct

Yes, those are the scissor blocks. If you want you can leave them in and see how you like it first, only takes a minute or two to take them out. Try them in or out, whatever you like.

Also, the more you loosen the front limiters, the more it with pull the skis. I tried mine with no threads showing on the front limiters when I first got it together, couldn't keep the skis on the ground. Remember though, I ran with no scissor blocks, so it may be a bit different with them in. I would start with at least a 1/2" showing on the threads, tune it from there, you can try it with the scissor blocks or without them. Whatever setup makes you happy in the end.

well thats the one thing missing is the blocks but i can get them otherwise the skid has freshly rebuilt shocks and the wheels are all good so i guess im going to go without the blocks at first i want to be able to pull them but not ride the back bar
