Lets talk Bearings here

cheer up mod..it's only a bearing....different if you are talking cats now(the meow kind)..lollll..How's the sleepless nights these days.Hey is your secret weight in your clutch happen to be Beer caps...loll

if you ride in conditions were it is more warmer and sloppy all the time, lots of water and slush..then I would not go with them cheap bearings. They are junk as mod stated and might make it a few hundered miles and fail.

My personal testing does not show them as junk. Did you guys actually have a controlled test that determined these are junk? I run both bearings on the same sleds at locations that experience the same wear rate.

Hate to say this as you guys seem to all do the right stuff, but I've never touched my bearings...
I've got 6500kms on my sled. Ughh ohh... I wouldn't really know where to begin, and I don't have fancy tools like bearing pullers, so I'd probably just bring my Viper to the local shop and tell them to service all bearings in the skid.
So far she's been riding smooth every year.

I bet there are lots of people riding on original bearings.

You are right. I used to just ride my sleds too. Then you learn and do. I bet if you pulled your skid and checked your bearings they would be in rough shape. You dont need pullers or new bearings. At the very least if you just pull and clean and repack it would be a big diff. I have been running the original bearings just keep them clean and repacked every year. Your skid would like some new bushings too im sure. My 2cents. CCC

OK,, lets here about the grease some of you guys are using to repack,,, not to far of the topic... results good-bad?

Been sticking with the yamaha snowmobile stuff. But now that my dealer is gone will be looking for somthing else. Good bearings so far. No rust but not a lot of grease left at the end of the year. Mixed opinion. CCC

Hey guys, it's great that you go to all this work but I think you may be even causing some problems.

These bearings come from the factory with what appears as too little grease. You need to be careful when "repacking" as NOT to put TOO much grease in.

If the bearing is packed tight it will create FRICTION which will create heat. This is why new bearings are not packed full.

I just buy the sleeve and replace each fall if necessary and never have a problem through the winter.

that is what you have to to.;)!

Still takes time to do but better then replacing them all the time for now reason..... ;)!

If you're really into this brg repacking then the time to do it would be in the spring before storage. You probably save a couple more each year by getting rid of the moisture and coating the brg before the rust sets in.For those of you with over 5,000 k on your original brgs(unless it was all in the first season)I'm surprised you aren't missing a few wheels. The ones on the outside of the rails will just disappear when the brg fails and you won't even know it happened. The suspension should be pulled out of the sled every year and checked completely over. It's the only way you can properly check all the brgs and bushings.JMHO.

Ughh ohh.. I'm over 6000kms and originals... Might be time to just take it in then. :(
All the wheels still seem to be there.
I guess it's something I'd have to look at doing... I've never done this, and have no idea how. If there was a post explain how to do this like the one to clean and adjust PV's I'd be set.
Where's DAMAN??? :P
