I have been searching for hours trying to find a solution as to where to grab power from for a digital temp gauge. I see many guys using the blue wire or brake light on the bars but i would prefer using something closer to the gauge pod since I would like to mount mine there.
I'm not even 100% sure that it will operate on my sled since its a 99 and running ac power throughout? Any help would be appreciated.

it will work just fine, splice the power wire into the power wire for your gauge. ground it to the ground for the headlights. i don't know what color wires that is on your year, but im sure you can figure it out.

So can I use the power for the tach or fuel gauge as a power source for the temp gauge or do i need to use another source?

either would work, they both have constant power when the sled is running.

Alright I'll give that a try this week and post back the results. Thanks

Does the stock temp sensor send info to the cdi unit on my sled to adjust timing and such? Or is it just to turn on the light when it gets hot?
Here is my cyberdune:

And I think it only turns on the light.

what is the ID of the coolant hose by the way???How did you handle the wire to the gauge every time you open up the hood??Would like to see how it will look. Can you take some more pics to show us???Thanks!!

I got the inline fitting off of ebay for $20, just search for "water temp adapter". The hose is 1" id so you need the 26mm adapter with the 1/8" NPT thread. The gauge does have a backlight and looks similar to the stock gauges.
I will go and take some pics and post them up in a few mins of the wiring. It isn't finished yet but you will get the idea.

I spliced into the brown wire going to the tach for power:
Then I spliced into the headlight ground (black) for the ground:
Then the sensor wire will run down the hood beside the main wire harness:

I checked on e-bay and couldn't find a 26mm with 1/4"NPT.All are 1/8"
You have a link to the one you found.?

My mistake, it's actually 1/8" NPT, i'm not too familiar with pipe sizes.
