hi there bought a 98 srx 600 and find out that the rpm gauge doesnt work any thoughts or suggestions on where to start to search for the problem also when i hook up the hi lo switch it trips the lights on the gauges any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks
 
gages just go bad I have 3 bad tachs. Search around on here someone will have one cheap I bet.
 
Check the connector from the tach to the wiring harness. The tach on my 2000 SRX started to show problems. I disconnected it, and found some corrosion on the metal blades in the connector. I cleaned off the corrosion with a small file and it has worked fine for 2 years.
 
what do you mean when you hook up the hi-lo beam it turns out all the lights?

does the tach work with the light switch on low beam only?
 
when i connect the hi-lo switch all the lights on the gauges go out and the driving light still stays dim. rpm gauge still doesnt work
 
If all the lights work with the high low beam switch unplugged, I'd say you have high resistance in the switch? Does it do anything else abnormal?
 
I would ask have you looked at the wiring harness under the engine yet?
 
have looked at the wiring harness it seems to be all good no rub throughs.the rpm gauge doesn't work at all. thanks again for all the helpful hints and ideas
 
ok, but if the yelllow/black wire was grounded on the chassis from a rub thru, it wouldnt work, thats why i asked if you actually pulled the harness out from under the engine.
