im going to be making the drop brackets for my sled but i wanted to know what the general concensus was on what to use to make them. steel or aluminum and how thick? thanks for the help!!!!
I used 1/4"x 4" aluminum flat and bolted them on with 4- 1/4" bolts. Worked good

How long was each bracket?
I think about 9-9 1/2 inches each. I ran it up to the top of the tunnel and bolted it up there where it was reinforced and bolted it down at the bottom where it was reinforced also. There was a couple of rivets in the way that I drilled out and after I mounted the brackets I drilled through and put rivets back into the holes. I clamped the two flats together and cut the bottom corners off on a 45 degree angle to make them look better and then drilled the skid mount bolt hole through both of them at once. They ended up exactly the same then.

Who is this Bruce you speak of? and are you familiar with dixon or surrounding towns?
Yep. I live in DeKalb, but I keep my sled in my hometown of Creston. About 5 miles from Rochelle, about 20 or so from Dixon.
Bruce is www.cbperformanceparts.com he is also on this board. I have pics of my SXR 700 in the photo section with said brackets installed.

The sled definately was a lot better in the deep stuff, it had a lot better clearance.Illinoisff133 said:Thanks alot dude, this is going to help out alot. did you notice anything different with the sled after the install besides it looking much better?
You should raise your front suspension too. The sled wanted to nose dive when you let off the gas and it made it hard to turn until you really slowed down a lot. Once I raised the front end it really helped.
