Info about Viper with triple pipes

Thinking about getting the above viper that has alot done with it. Just looking for some pointers of what to look for. He told me he put on about 1000kms with the pipes on it and says its runs excellent with no problems. Is there something not listed that NEEDS to be done with putting triple pipes on the Viper. Nothing listed about jetting and carb adjustment. Is this a good deal? Thanks for your 2 cents.
 
Also, he said he replaced the odometer with a used one saying that it reads about 8500kms but 4500kms on the sled.
 
that sure is a lot for a viper, but it does have all the right parts on it. sounds like a good sled. if you got it, that viper wouldn't be bad at all. if it were up to me, i'd look at a four stroke for that price.
 
Looks straight up to me, that is one bad AZZ looking sled. Dont know about canada prices so?? Does need to be jetted right but im sure it is, ask. Clutching too. Worth a look! Hard to tell about the spedo. Why he have to change it?? CCC
 
Id haave to say that is a great looking and running sled,looks like he put alot of pride into his work. If you have been looking, Im sure you know there are some stock vipers going for that price. If i was looking to buy another viper i would seriously be looking at that one. If you have the cash go for it, Just make sure you run good premium gas.
 
Thats about what they are selling for up in Canada. I can get a stock one for about 4000 and this guy wants some extra for what he put into it. He been trying to sell this all summer and orginal asking price was 7000 and now down to 4900. My question is with what he has done to it make it a very reliable sled as with all yamahas or something I think to be very careful about when looking at sled. I know very little about the mods needed to put on triple pipes. I been reading on here that coolant flow maybe an issue and that you need to change gasket or head to get the cooling needed. I asked him about that and he said he never seen the temp light on and it has a rear exchanger as well. Also, I read that the SLP pipes are kinda the best for less required changes and alittle quiter as well. What type of questions can I ask about the clutching and jetting settings? He did state on the ad the spring has been changed in the primary and dropped a tooth on a gear. Does this help any with clutching or rpm settings? Thanks for you input. And yeah it does look bad AZZ but would suck if I got it and is nothing but trouble because not setup properly with the pipes and mods done to it. Or not enough cooling and I loose a cylinder. One other question. Would this sled blow past a stock 2001 SRX?
 
Looks like a very nice sled. And yes SLP pipes are probably the best triple pipes for the Viper. With the rear heat exchanger on it the cooling should be alright. Yes he probably had to change the primary spring when he put the pipes on due to the increased horsepower. A stock 01 SRX will probably still outrun the Viper. They are a beast in their own class.

On another note the ad states it was the last year for the triple. But they did make a 05 Viper Mtn. So this is false info. Just a FYI fact.

I think there was even an 06 Mtn Viper if I recall correctly.

Hmm you are very well correct. I just looked on yamaha-motor.com parts. They list an 06 Viper Mtn and an 06 Venom.
 
Yup, they made both 2 and 4 stroke ventures in 06. I've got an 06' Venture 600 tripple too.

A 1.5" track doesnt need to be tightened up much more than a 1.25 or 1" track, I had a 1.5 Ripsaw on my SRX and it would stop ratcheting about where Yamaha recommends their track tension, tighter than most like it but the added expense of anti-ratchets, re-gearing, and re-clutching doesnt seem worth it to me.

If you're planning on studding this sled,you're out of luck with that track and the stock 9 tooth drivers. You can't compare the hook of a 1 1\2 paddle to the stock 1" track. When you have ideal firm base conditions and the additional power from that motor you will have some ratchiting issues out of the hole without tightning up that track.Studding the sled will only make it worse.If you plan on keeping the sled and studding it the only way to go ( in my opinion ) is with the 8 tooth anti's. It just gives you more options.
