The ES electrode protrudes past the base of the plug...hence the ground strap sits higher this causes the plug to be "longer" in the cylinder. The ECS has an electrode that sits flush with the base and the ground strap is shorter as a result causing the plug to not protrude as deep into the cylinder. Remember that the plug fires almost at TDC so the longer electrode moves the entire spark closer to the prescious dome of your piston increasing your chance of arcing to the dome and destroying your investment...save a few dollars and then spend a few thousand?
