Asked this over at vmax4.com but not a lot of action going on over there.

Just wondering what everyone believes the value of a 97 vmax 4 800 is at right now. Assuming in great to mint original condition. I sold a near perfect 95 last year for $2300. Being that they are rare, how much more would a 97 in same condition bring?

THEY ARE THE MOST VALUABLE VMAX 4, MY GUESS 3000/3500 AREA, I WILL TELL YA THEY ARE NOT AS RARE AS YA THINK. THE 50 BUILT STUFF IS BALONI. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I sold mine for $2800 cad and I would say it was a solid 9 out of 10..There are a few on here who had seen it that could attest to its condition.

I am with Tony and I have always said maybe, as few as 500 but, could not believe Yamaha would have even bothered with a production run and advertizing a number as little as 50. All it would take would be to get 97 owners to list their vin#'s and you could get close to an actual total.

I do not know what the Prefix'es are to the Vmax4's but, if they are the same as older Yamaha's they should be 3 digits/letters combo a (-) followed by 6 digit vin# such as 8BW-000101

i see these in my area all the time in perfect condition for 800 -1400 vmax4 maybe i should fill a trailer full and make a road trip haha ..heres a 600 vmax for sale i know its not a 800 but check it out http://utica.craigslist.org/rvs/2036643485.html

Huge difference between a 600 and an 800. Also a big difference between a 95 and a 97. I'm guessing none of the ones you are seeing are 97 800's. Most likely 92-94 750's.

I agree the 1997 VMAX4 would be the most valuable of the lot.
I have owned a 95 and still own a 1996 and I have only seen one real 97. The 97s are the only year that had the Pro Action rear suspension as well as the Hydraulic brake. There are quite a few 96s posing as 97s[like mine] with the proaction skid but as I said earlier,I have only ever seen one real 97!
Its the old story...something is only really worth what it will sell for.

WHY YA SAY BIG DEFFERENCE BETWEEN A 95 AND A 97. ? THERE ARE SOME SMALL DEFFERENCES.
(susp, brake , color, slight clutching change ) 3:16 (yammie tony)

Zac

136'' or short track?

They made more 1997 short tracks than 1996 long tracks.

A guy on vmax4.com had a 1997 long track for sale for $2000 (out East somewhere)..........................for about 5 mins last season, i belive he traded it for a sled by one of 'the other brands' ........................kin Heathen

I was referring more to the rareness and desirability of the 97.

And even less 97 long tracks. A mint 97 long track would be the jackpot find.

THERE HAVE BEEN AFEW 97,s AROUND AT DEALERS STILL IN THE BOX. ALSO WHAT HURT THE 97 VMAX 4 WAS THE CHANGE FROM POGO SUSP TO THE PRO-ACTION. THE VMAX SX 700 WAS A HELL OF A SLED. YAMAHA MADE AND SOLD A ZILLION OF THOSE. AND THEY WERE ALOT LESS THAN THE VMAX 4 PRICE WISE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Yessir, 97 long track is the ''Holy Grail'' of the Vmax4, lm on the look out hopeing more made it out west than where sold in the east!

There were more then 50 I'm sure of that, BUT......i know there were not many because in all my years of riding(witch is many)I've never seen ONE on the trail or anywhere! matter of fact i've never seen one till i bought mine! lol

i disagree with my bud tony :) they are rare especially in mint, original condition like mine and not hacked and modified.

i was offered $3,000 for mine and declined it.

MY BUD '' DAMAN ''. HOW ARE BUD. WINTER READY TO ROCK WHEN YOUR BACK UP. lol. ANYWAYS HEY I,LL TELL YA HOW RARE THE 97 VMAX 4 IS HERE IN NY. THERE IS ONE TWO STREETS OVER FROM ME IN SHOW ROOM CONDITION WITH BENDER QUADS. MATTER OF FACT, KID THAT OWNS IT TOOK A JOB ON WEST COAST. SLED SITS, AND SITS, AND SITS. I WILL SAY IN LAST FIVE YEARS, BETWEEN OUR LOCAL '' CRAIG LIST '' AND SWAP PAPERS, I HAVE SEEN MAYBE 5 HERE IN NY. I ALSO SAW JMINOR1 IN ONTARIO. THEY ARE OUT THERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
