I noticed tonight as I was checking things over.On the clutch, the area where the rollers are mounted above the weights, there are like wear marks..like something is touching and grinding material of the left side of the tower or part that the bushing and rollers go thru. All 3 of them have these marks. Nothing in the clutch comes in contact with this area, what is doing this then.Got my spare clutch on the bench and I move the sheave up and down.there is nothing anywhere that would contact the side like this. Now this is blowing my mind to see this.If this gets worse.it'll weaken the area won't it.What gives here.I may take a file and smooth them areas out and then put a black marker on them to see if it will get grinded again and if the black marker ink disappears.NOW this is a new one for me.

when you have the sled running can hear any knocking or grinding

Is everything tight, motor mounts all there is everything all lined up

check your clutch cover maybe it is hitting there

plus you need better camera LOL! ;)! :letitsnow

Could always pull cover off and run on stand, to see what it's doing, but I'd be wearing a helmet while doing so.......

Clutches all rebuilt,no noise anywhere. You guys take your clutches on a table and with spring out .move your sheave up and down imitating weights against roller. There is nothing evn close by or anything that can get loose or anything whatsoever that evn can come in contact with the side.I don't think motor mounts would cause this..lol..
It is like something is etching into the side because it is shiny in them areas. But for the life of me..there is nothing to do with the clutch that can come in contact with that area..think about it.This is why this is weird.
My clutch has had new bushings installed few seasons ago,but there is not many miles on them bushings.
THIS IS A MYSTERY FOR SURE!!!!!

are all the spark plugs in the spare holders accounted for? missing any tools? any dents or scars in the belt cover? appears to me something was under/in there and the clutch spun/rubbed against it, at least for one revolution. hence the similar wear on the the same side on each side of the spider. impact or abrasion. whats in the belly pan? nothing there in itself to hit, its an outside job.

modsrx..get some glasses.Look at the area where the rollers go thru. Each side has a hole for the bushing to go thru and the bolt. The roller is between the sides. On the left side front edge of each section has little wear marks or grinding on them.It shows up in the pic as the shiny area on the left side.OK

as the motor rpm increases, the weight pushes on the roller and sheave closes inward. The tower part with the roller is totally by itself with no materials of any kind close to it at this point.Must be a little Gremlin there somewhere with a chisel and hammer just going at it when clutch is spinning 8000 rpm's...lmao

I agree

no nothing.Cover is good,no articles laying around anywhere to be seen and shouldn't be.No debrise or tools laying around either below the clutch.Sparkplugs are mounted on air box. This is a strange one. Will probably switch to another clutch I have and see if this happens there or not.Nothing outof the ordinary here.Like I said earlier.I will smooth them areas out fith a smooth file and color them with a black marker. If the black marker gets eaten away..then I will have to figure out why..but makes no sense to me at this point.

OK,, something definitely hit the clutch when it was running.... Would hit that side of roller and jump past other side.... Don't know what it was ,, but think and it might come back to you,,, made a little bada up sound...

no MOUSE mod..no guard...it is to far away.No vise my friend Stein..lol.I'll be riding her tomorrow with the guys so I will paint them marks and see what happens I guess.Like I said ..there is nothing in that area anywhere that could come loose, fly around or touch them spots, that is way I am stunned by it.And I know it wasn't like that before..but what do I know.....lolI know better after tomorrow's ride.

Stein..come across the Red River at high speed and come over here. We'll be around Labarier Park chasing the skiers..lol

Whammy..did not hear anything, mind you with a Helmet on it would be hard to hear.Hopefully I will find out tomorrow if it is still happening.Funny thing is it is not just a nick in 1 spot, but the entire outside edge of them sides... :o|

lmao..you got that right..and when you do..slap them workers a bit..because they are so slow..Make some tracks in the wet concrete to will ya.....
