I joined this site yesterday and must say it is awesome, thanks so much to those more experienced sleders for sharing your expertise with us novice fellow yamaha enthusiasts.
Question. I know the importace of keeping the carbs clean. I'm a handy guy but don't know the finer points of cleaning carbs and dont want to screw something up. Are they any good youtube postings on carb cleaning that you would recommend to follow?

Ditto, the tech section has a couple of great writeups on carb cleaning. The link to the tech section is right above in the blue bar "TY tech".

Tech section. I was the same as you. I'd never cleaned the carbs the my SXR. I did it last week with the help of the tech section and its not hard at all. Took me about 3 hours start to finish. Sure I could do it now in an hour.

You may want to read up on power valve cleaning AND adjustment,VERY important also.
