Raced my giant killer stock 1979 Enticer 340 in the 340 fan class and also jumped up into the 440 fan class.
Below photo is the 440 fan class in my second year mabey-still learning. My sled is the 5th one out,I have the orange helmet on.
In this race were the 2 Scorpion Sting 440's and a Kawasaki Intruder 440.
The white and black sled may be a Exciter 440 and couple other Enticers.
When I could beat the other 340's and 400 and 440 sleds every time out I jumped up to the 340 F/A class where I could get 3rd to 6th place out of 12-19 sleds most every time.At least get my entry fee back and some gas money.
I won the 340 F/A class 1 time on a half mile track with 17 sleds entered.
1st place on Saturday and 5th on Sunday-go figure!!
Unless one was very well tuned and driven,I had little trouble beating these sleds--440+ fans-Mercury Trail Twister,Kawasaki Intruder,Scorpion Sting,Yamaha Exciter,Yamaha SS,Ski-Doo Blizzard 5500,Rupp Nitro,Polaris Indy IFS,SnoJet SST?.
I could also beat up on 340 F/A sleds like-Moto-Ski Sonic,Ski-Doo RV,Polaris TX,and the 1976 Polaris TX STARFIRES-yes really!!,ELTigre Z's,Rupp Nitros,Mercury Trail Twisters,SnoJets,Yamaha GPX's.
My sled and I won the 1985 USSA DAYCO Oval World Series "D" stock class at Owen Sound,Ontario Canada.Second place sled was a 440 Polaris Indy Ifs.
Spent some time in tech.Second place guy was pissed.
My oil tank was my lube tank.10" carbide, studs, only 1 spring stablizer on each ski, very minor clutch setup change and one more little secret.
I was told my sled was one of the "good" ones.
It was light and snappy and I could drive it deep into the corners and pass at will if I fell behind at the start.Probably didn't hurt that at that time in my younger days I weighed less than 155 lbs all dressed up.
One embarrassing moment at a race was when track derailed (leading and 150 ft from finish line) and sled and I got to ride on the open trailer around the track in front of the crowd and through the pits.
I have more photos I'll have to scan and post them.
