So im going to be sending my pv's to yamahead to be fixed but I was just wondering if any harm could be done if I rode the sled with the pull throughs, Im guessing the main thing is I wont be pulling the right rpm's right?
 
You will not cause any damage to the engine by riding it with the damaged (pulled through) power valves. You will not develop maximum HP. There are many people riding with "pulled through" power valves since they have not checked them. The longer you ride with stick power valves, the tougher they will be to get out. I remove severely stuck valves getting the engine to operating temp, then soaking them with penetrating oil then insert a length of drill rod as close the diameter of the hole in the power valve a possible. Grip both sides if the rod with a vise grip pliers and pull. These valves can get stuck real bad if you don't clean them often.
 
i would remove them completly to keep them from dropping past the stops and hitting the piston
 
Ya that sounds good just debating if I should ride this wknd with snow coming or if I should just take the valves out. Plus im not sure about the third valve being a complete pull through and dont want it to happen later on in the season. Any advice the one closest to the recoil is a pain to get at and 2 bolts were almost stripped out,should I just cut the third cable if its close to being a pull through? Just trying to make the best choice ANy Ideas?
 
DON'T RUN IT WITH OUT THE POWER VALVE IN PLACE! without the power valve there you will burn the crap out of the seal and blow all kinds of oil and carbon up into the cable housing which will make the cable sticky.the valve will only hit the piston if the stops are wore out and it will hit with or without the cable attached.
 
So, Summary... some guys say dont run it with pull throughs, some say it will be fine, one guy says pull the valve out, others say dont do it... so... How about not ride this weekend at all until you get everything back to good working order. Just to be on the safe side.

agreed... but on the cables, pull all your valves back apart this weekend, and take all3 apart from the cables. Check for fraying near the ball end. I've done this time after time TRUST me, its better now than later.

Don't buy all three if you don't have to, but definitly make sure you replace them if they're worn out. When a valve sticks the servo keeps pulling on the cable, and before it pulls out through the socket (on pv) it stretches (and frays/breaks cable). Not always, but most of the time it happens.

all i'm saying is check them over, and buy what you need before you ride. If you have good cables, Reworked valves from Mr. PV, and clean surfaces, you'll have no problems. Also... I'm not sure what you run for oil, but try klotz. I love it.
 
can always make a block off plate from a alumnium can to block the hole ....but best to fix before rideing
 
yea i get your guys" point ill just pull all the cables apart and check everything over gud just wish this would be alot easier to replace quickly lol but i guess its all the price we pay!
