My pump is sucking a lot of oil. I want to replace the pump. I saw one on ebay. I asked if there was a number on the pump. He said it was 8cr2. That was the number on the pump. Do you know if this is the updated pump or the stock one?

Is your pump using like a quart of oil for a tank of gas? Thats how I have found those pumps go, happened to me twice, and I have replaced a couple other friends on their Vmaxs and ventures from around the same age.
Those pumps die alot I have found, killed one in my Vmax, and one in my Venture. If anybody wants one that pumps an excessive amount of oil as a backup when they are in real dire needs, I have one available still....LOL.

I adjusted the pump. I almost burned a whole tank of oil to 1 tank of gas.If the pump has 8cr2 stamped on it is that the updated pump?

8CR-13100-01-00 is the Yamaha part # for the 98+ UPDATED oil pump. 8CR-13100-00-00 is the old version that failed pretty frequently. I ate the $150 and bought a new one from the dealer when mine went out, just to be sure I got a updated one.

That's Yamaha's OEM part # for the new one. 8CR should be for a 600 twin but whether or not it's an updated one is anyones guess. The pump was about $150 new, I guess i'd chance buying a used one only because it takes about 15 minutes to change out the old one.
