SRX 700 breaking problems

Hey everyone. this is my first thread so i will do my best to describe my problem. today i FINALLY got to ride my new SRX 700!!! since the lake i live by is not thick enough all the way around i was only able to do short sprints. after a while my breaks stopped working!! there was no pressure. after i got back into the garage and let it warm up the pressure came back. my dad says that the breaks might have gone out because of the lack of snow hitting the radiators underneath the floorboards and the breaks shut off so that they didn't burn up. any answers please post. (sorry for the long post)

Take the cap of the master cylinder and find the bleeder screw on the caliper. open the bleeder screw and catch the olf fluid in a container until empty. Fill the master cylinder back up and leave the screw upen intill fluids drips back out. Once it does,close it and bleed the brakes as normal. Sounds like the brake fluid is old and need to be flushed and filled.
 
whoops i didnt mean to post it here. but thanks for the quick responses!! i will talk to my dad about it and we will probably bleed it tommorrow
 
when you use your breaks to slow down quickly it over heats them and the fluid bacially boils, resulting in loss of pressure. the lack of snow hitting the coolers has nothing to do with it.
 
i thought i might have something to do with stopping too fast, thans for the quick response!!! now i don't have to do anything in the morning to get it ready for this weekend. thanks again for the quick responce :letitsnow
 
no problem. i found out the same way. i was making some fast runs with not much room for slowing down and i lost my breaks. by the time i got home they had cooled down enough to work. just make sure your pads still look ok.

No you should still change the fluid, its only a few bucks. Brake fluid pulls in moisture and the boiling point changes. A high quality dot 4 is what is used.
I change my fluid every year. I have a flushing machine at the dealer that is used all the time.
