2 2 Stroke Oil question Spectro, Castrol, BRP XPS

BigTime, hows your power valves? With 11k miles is would like to know if they are sticky or not. How do you clean them, On our Viper yamalube totally gummed up the valves. Al

It is perfectly fine to switch oils at anytime. It will not harm anything.
 
Any buddy know about arctic bue syn oil. was at fleet farm looking at the oil and notice that it come from como lube&suppies Duluth,Mn, I was wondering if they would buy bulk from amsoil being that they are across the bridge in Superior, Wi? Why I ask is,Its about 8 bucks less a gallon.

Amsoil will not sell their product to any other company or alter their name like others may do as marketing ploys.

CITGO does that all the time.. they call it YAMALUBE!!! ( and a few DOZEN other brands!!!)

Unless you switch to a castor bean oil... If you do something like that,,, you PROBABLY aren't trail riding with that sled...

I wouldn't use a regular non synth oil in a PV sled (esp one without self cleaning cycle). If you use yamalube, I can guarantee you will be cleaning your PV's often.

FWIW, even under warranty, no manufacturer can deny you a warranty claim for not using their recommended oil. If they try to, there are laws against that, and if they try that, they have to provide their oil to the consumer for free.

i've never had a problem with my pv's. i just take em apart at the begining of the season and clean em up. tore the motor down this year and everything looked like new. i have an issue with a crank bearing but i think with that many miles you have to expect things like that i guess

do you think there is much of a difference between yamalube 2s and xps semi-syn? both synthetic blends right? i've had such good results with yamlube all these years i figured the doo should drink it just fine too. and for about 75% of the cost.

I don't believe yamalube 2s is semi synth. With the amsoil in my XCsp, I have only had to clean the VES valves once, actually this year before I ride it. And that has been since I switched like 5 years ago to amsoil.

Before that, even with expensive VES gold and whatever new VES special oil polaris had, I had to clean them out at least 1 time a season. Not only was I wasting more $$, but time too cleaning the valves.

Pennzoil has been very popular in 2010 over at BITOG forum for car/truck engines.

To be fair, oil related engine failure are very rare these days in 4 strokes and modern 2 strokes. What where you using before that your comparing it too? syn/dyno?
