I Installed A Camoplast 1 Inch Track On My 2001 Srx. The Track Came Off A 2006 Ski Doo Mach Z. It Seems To Be Hitting The Factory Front Cooler Guards. I Have It All Assembled., Do I Need To Remove The Track Again To Get Rid Of The Cooler Procectors Or???? What Else.

If you are not running studs on your sled, you have the option of taking off the protectors and not having any clearance issues. When I first installed a 1" track on my srx, it rubbed initially but it eventually wore in. If it is rubbing pretty bad (shouldn't be if it is a 1" track) then I would remove the protectors only if you are not running studs.

Removing The Protectors
Please Tell Me That I Can Remove The Protectors Without Removing The Track Again?
Looks Like If I Pull The Motor I Can Grind The Rivet Heads On The Upper Mount.

Cooler Protectors
The lower part of the protector has 2 rivets per side, easy to remove. It's the upper ones that I need to get off. I DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE THE TRACK AGAIN if i can help it. I was wondering if I could remove the rivets on the upper side by gaining access under the motor. anyone????

whats the big deal about removing the track? either run it and let them wear down, or take the suspension/track etc out. shouldn't take you more than an hour to do
^^^^ X2..... just run it!!! you know what the noise is...... skid and track take an hour or two to take out if you like..... but just run it!!!

I have a 2"camoplast on my srx 700 mountain and it has about quarter inch away from the heat exchangers on my machine, not sure how much different they are than regular srx.

Track Removal
I admit I am a bit pressed for time and I really don't want to trake the track out. I did want to remove the motor to clean out the bulkhead. I was just wondering if I could remove the cooler protector upper rivets from the top?
Anyone?.

Come on Joe your killing me with that statement. Pull the engine to clean the bulkhead. Joe - you have way to much time on your hands.
Hope to see you on the hill soon!!! ---mac---

Bob I Really Do Not. The Sleds Are Up At Camp And I Can Only Work On Them When I Am There. Do You Know If I Can Get To The Rivets With The Motor Out?

I dont know that answer about access to the rivets. I agree with others that you should leave the protectors in. Run the sled for awhile and you will see it wont rub for long. This same question and answer scenario plays out on this forum every several weeks though out the season. Most everyone agrees let them rub.

yes u can, the're right below the motor mounts. they're the ones coming up from the bottom, the others in the area go down from the engine side

You can also snip the tips off that part of the track that it touches with a pair of dykes but im sure it will be alot easier to install the track with the protectors gone. I would rather remove the track than the motor.

I let them rub on mine and it ended up losining up the rivets making a anyoing noise. Pulling up to the gas station with a nice sled sounding like the track is jumping the cog shaft only my 2 cents

X2 - just use a tile nipper and cut the portion of the lug that's hitting. I have a 1" track with studs so removing the HX protectors wasn't an option and I didn't want to just let them wear away.
You may find you want to stud and will be thanking yourself for not removing the protectors.

X3 for sure.. I did what snomofo did and it worked great. Only had to take a 1/8 or so off just at the windows where the protectors would hit. CCC
