Protectors
Thanks STAGG65. I am going to pull the motor any way to cleanup the grime under it. Will also re ring it. Never going to run studs so the protectors will go.
QUESTION:
With the front cooler protectors gone, what is the biggest track lug I can run with the factory drivers? ( 9 tooth)

Part Of My Problem
I heard from NY ATTACK GT that the Ski Doo track has a differnet pitch and therefore is causing me an issue. Would explain why a 1 inch lug track it hitting.
WHERE CAN I GET SKIDOO PITCH DRIVERS FOR MY YAMAHA DRIVE SHAFT?

Sorry Joe. Didnt mean to steer you in the wrong direction. If any question, you can reference the track model # (usually stamped on track somewhere) to see what pitch it is. I knew Doo had 2.86, but thought it started earlier than '08...I could be wrong though.
Additionally, I dont recall having rivits in the upper portion of the exchanger protectors in my '01 SRX. Just remember the 3 rivits on the bottom. I have the old protectors in a box in my garage...will look when I go home.

Srx Track Install Resolved
I just wanted to follow up and report my issues. First I removed the engine and ground the rivets holding the upper part of the factory heat exchanger protector off. Once they were gone I noticed that the outer driver on the clutch side did not line up. I ended up removing the drive axle and relocating the driver about 3/8 farther out and them the track fit fine. Very strange. The driver lock ring has just about enough bite on the shaft to do it's job.
