my srx 700 is stock i was wondering if anyone had a good starting point for setting them i have it where they said and i read the tech page on them but wanted to get close and tune from there
 
she hauls azz when I pinned it..was instant..great rush..but could not get it past the 100 mph mark to easy.They are basically a drag weight,not top end weight.
 
bluemonster what weight placements did u use if u remember and helix and spring i can live with lower top speeds we do a lot of trail and short drags thanks for the help
 
This works well and pulls good topend as well: HC red primary spring, 5 grams in heel, 4 grams in tip, middle empty, apex or rx 1 helix, yamaha green secondary spring at 60 degree wrap.

if the srx is stock, I will suggest you at least buy a differnt helix in order to get the sled in a happy set up. the stock straight 47 isnt really that well suited for the h/c weights.

what kind of riding are you doing?

h/c's are one of the very best clutch weights out for a yamaha, they can be tuned for alot of differnt riding styles and they CLAMP that belt!

theres likely enuff reading on these to get you thru x-mas, try the search feature and youll come across alot of information about them.

most guys really dont know how to troubleshoot basic clutching problems and those are the ones who say they dont work. I like many others here have used them for years and they are my favorite.
 
i live in illinois so there is alot of open fields to race on and we go to michigan a few times a year and lake ride and trails there to so im pretty interested in getting there quickly cause theres some decent competition we race quite a bit so any good starting points would be helpful its a bone stock 2002 thanks
 
this will be close and run pretty good

40-10 weight set,
use the red primary spring.
heel-6.2 gr.
center-empty
tip 5.0gr

sec.clutch- 50/38 helix with green sec spring wound at 70-80 degrees.

on the helix, most of mine are either dalton brand or maxx perf. differnt brands will shift differnt ways so one 50/38 from another company will act differnt then a differnt 50/38, even though they are marked the same.
I would guess and say bruce at pioneer performance(he used to work for maxx perf.) could supply you with a nice 50/38 and it likely is made from the same company maxx used . cant hurt to call him.

if you happen to find something else used and cheap, just ask, it would only take a few changes to weight placement in primary to make it work likely, stay around a 50 start and 36-40 finish angles.
 
i have 2 agree the heelix is the best set up for yami on the drags u want to get top end then use ur heavy hitters, on ur helix weights make sure they do not hit ur primary sheave when they are fully shiffted and if they do u need 2 notch the sheave so they don,t hit if u don,t check this and they are hitting and u run like that u will blow that clutch apart. notching is done on the inside of the sheave u will see when u shift it buy hand all the way in and pull the weights back like they would be shiffted all the way. that is on ur drag and fly weights only.

Don't confuse this poor guy. If he gets the 40-10's like Don suggested there won't be any machining required in the primary. And talking about "helix weights" is definately going to confuse him since there is not such thing. Hopefully that was just a typo.

It may take awhile to get them dialed in with tuning and such.... However once I finally got mine dialed in, thanks to the members on this site :) It works great, I wouldnt trade them out for anything now, she definately pulls hard!
 
i was wondering how you guys get 6.2 grams in the heel without using a bunch of washers i think if i use enough to get the weight they will hit also when i got my secondary spring and helix from pioneer performance they sent me a silver spring not a green will it work or should i return it

I bought my set new a couple years ago and they sent me 2 grey primary springs and no red spring. I called to find out what was up and they said they did not make the red one anymore. I had to get my red spring from a member here.
