tuning heelclickers

sorry guys i was referring to a silver secondary spring instead of the green i didnt know with the set up mr viper gave me if the silver would work or be to stiff

you should have gotten set screws and long bolts for the weights, sometimes i will shorten up the set screws, put them all the way down in and then use the bolt and washers.

youll need a gram scale so you know what your adding. just make sure you have a decent amount of thread engagement in the weight.
 
How do I get 6.2 grams on the heel and 5 gr on the tip? Not enough room to add all these washers to get the weight. Any tricks or tips for me? Still learning about all this stuff.
 
I'll have to take a better look, I have the Allen screw in there now, I also have bigger bolts but it won't thread into the hole as the bolt is bigger than the Allen screw, but I will check ASAP
 
I just set some up i think that the tip and middle hole was a 1/4x28 thread and the heal was 8-32 if I remember correct.it took several arrangements of hardware to equal the weight needed but I just kept trying different assortments till I found a match and made sure it cleared every thing
 
Can i change wieght on heel clickers withought taking them out? Is it possible or do I have to take the clutche apart?

you can on the heel no problem, the center and tip youll need a quick change tool or remove the clutch and cover to change the hardware/weight. The tool i am referring to you place behind the spider and push on it, it opens the clutch and compresses the spring, then you slip on a little peice of steel over the sheaves and it holds it there allowing you to change the clutch weights.
 
I placed 5,2 grams in the heel, yes it took alot of washers, and some grinding of the washers to clear the rollers when the clutch slams shut. 5,2 grams in heel gave me about 4200 or so rpm in engagement, which I think is just good. I was able to add over 7 grams (maybe 8) in the tip, using a nut, that was ground to clear the spider pockets. I also added washers under the bolt, so I had to grind the bolt head little as well. That being done, I am going to run hauck red spring @70 deg, and with a dalton 50/38 or 50/40.
 
With about 6 to 7 grams in the tip and 6 grams in heel and center empty as opposed to 3.3 grams in heel 3 grams in center and 3 grams in tip, with running a green dot spring and a 50/36 helix what differences am I looking at seeing in performance. I have that exact setup up right now but looking to change the height to about 6 grams tip and 6 grams heel and center empty.

when you run weight in the center on a srx, the engine will be less responsive(more lugged feeling), they will be alot more fun to ride and revy feeling with just heel and tip weight. With that 50/36 helix with 6 grams tip it will have some long legs! try it..... I think youll find its gonna be a whole differnt animal with it set up like that.

Also, i seen earlier you were asking about adding washers, you can add a few washers to the bolts to get more weight, you just have to check to make sure the bolt head doesnt rub on the inside of the spider. Sometimes youll need to spot face/file off the bolt head face slightly. For the heel you might need to use a rat tail file and just barely clearance the washers so the roller doesnt contact them, your not really removing hardly any weight just to make sure the roller doesnt bump into the bottom washers on the heel.
 
Also, don't be afraid of going to your hardware store and finding some different hardware to fit these weights. I use some different lenth set screws in the body of the weight to fine tune them. I have been using these weights in every sled I own since 1999 and NOTHING pulls like them. they take some tuning but you will be rewarded in the end.

EXACTLY< the middle and tip stuff is just 1/4"-28 hardware. the heel hardware is 5mm x.08
