Race Fuel or Octane Booster/Fuel Additive

Shell 91 has no ethanol, and Sunoco 94 the most ethanol. Stop putting additives and octane booster in your sled. Alot of additives, and boosters contain alcohol. Boosters are a gimmick and do nothing but waste your money. Of the boosters that do work, many contain nitro methane which is again an alcohol, and will harm a 2 stroke engine if too much is used. Alcohol in any form whether it's ethenol, methyl, isopropyl, or whatever is still alcohol, and does the same thing. If you guys want to learn more about fuels, check out ultralight aircraft forums. They run sled motors, and don't f around with fuels! When they lose a motor it usually hurts pretty bad.

And another harmful misconception is to jet your motor fatter because ethanol burns hotter! LOFL!!!!! 91 octane is 91 octane period!! and jetting fatter will only allow more alcohol into the engine to wash more oil off the bottom end.

So what do they use for fuel and do they typically run their motors in a rpm window that is much narrower than we do on our sleds?

I was thinking about giving this a shot this year http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/aqs.aspx

I know there are a lot of differing opinions out there about additives but I tend to believe that companies like Amsoil and Lucas have a pretty good Idea of what they are doing and their products usually do what they claim they will do. This stuff looks very interesting and looks just like the product I am looking for to buy a little insurance.

My father is an amsoil dealer so I figured I should give the product a try before I reccomend it to anyone.

Haven't got much snow yet so when I do give it a try I'll report back my findings. We haven't really had to many issues with burn downs but I do see what happens to the fuel after it sits. I clean carbs regardless every season, I'm more just looking for something I can put in my tank when we stop for fuel when I'm not sure what I'm getting.

ROTFLMAO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)
MADZX is exactly correct it is %15 percent for cars and recreational vehicles is %10. I am assuming that the gas stations will have to figure their pumps out to accomodate this.

OH YA. HERE IN NY THEY WILL GIVE YA YOUR OWN PUMP FOR YOUR RECREATIONAL VEHICLE ?. HERE IN NY YOUR LUCKY TO USE A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

according to what i read and how the law is stated they are going to have to have a pump with 10%. here in Minnesota a lot of the smaller NON chain store gas stations have pumps with no ethanol.

you don't have to worry if you live in newberry. at the gas station they make it very clear that there isn't any ethanol in their gas. i don't remember exactly what the sign said but it was something along the lines of "no corn in our gas".
