Bonding the hood

I saw a thread a while back on this but wasnt sure if there was any updates.
I am looking to combine part of an SRX hood to my Viper hood then repaint it. I know the material the hood is made out of is tough to bond together once it is cracked. I was wondering if any of the autobody guys out there knew of a glue or adhesive that will hold these hoods together? And what do I need to add to the paint to make it flexible like the factory paint? Greatly appreciate it guys.
 
i dont know about bonding but paint you need to add a flex agent to all coats of paint i did it to mine i bent the tunnel and paint never cracked
 
Panel Bond is what is used at body shops for glueing panels on cars, very strong but as alot of good products are not avalible to the general public.I dont think there is a flex agent in a hoods paint i have found only basecoat clearcoat on any we have refinished.
 
you have to add the flex agent i dont know if you need it but for 20 bucks it is worth it i landed on my rear bumper and folded tunnel under and never cracked paint the stuff really works
 
There are a few types of of bonding materials. Sem fuser. Both are two part and take gun to use. Can get it any body supply store. Most of the new base coat clear coat systems dont need flex they have it in clear already.
 
You want to use Fusor 100EZ. You apply it with a gun and heat it with a heat gun or heat lamp. The best stuff for SMC type plasics. No the hoods are not Fiberglass and have not been on most models since 1981. Fusor is available at Autobody supply stores for $40.00-$50.00 a tube. The flex additive goes in the clear only. The base is already flexable. I use it on my personal paint jobs. Possibly not needed because the hood usually will break at the same time the paint would break??? I have glued many hoods that are in pieces back together with Fusor 100ez. The hood will never break again if repaired correctly. Jeff Wurl
