Viper wont start... discouraged...

OK guys, I am a little aggitated right now with my machine. 2002 Viper, just got home from school when there is actually snow on the ground, and now it wont start.

Hasnt been started in about 12-15 days my dad said. Has had carbs cleaned, fresh premium fuel, new plugs..... has good compression, good clean spark and is getting fuel. I pull and pull, and pull. Nothing. Not a blip, not a burp... Nadda.

Any ideas? I probably should try pouring a bit of fuel in the cylinders, but after pulling, and pulling, as well as taking plugs out to make sure I wasnt flooded, etc, I was too tired to walk to the house, get the keys for our barn, walk back out to the barn, get the fuel bottle, then walk to the shed....bah!
 
What's your starting routine?

I never touch the throttle
Full choke until it starts then right to half throttle for a less than 20 seconds or so...(I go between no choke and 1/2 choke until it idles on it's own)
I give it 5 +/- minutes or so to warm up at idle...

If you need to, remove a plug and dump a little bit of pre-mixed fuel in the cylinder. Don't get discouraged, all sleds have little nuances that take a while to learn.
 
Didn'T hit the kill switch by chance..... key on ...... do you have spark?
 
if you have spark and compression theres no fuel making it to the combustion chamber , fuel in the tank doesnt men its getting to the cyl.'s dump a little pre-mix into the cylinders and pull it, (after you put the plugs back in)
 
Can you get in where its warm overnight?
The Vipers are known for frozen fuel pumps[there's a mod out for them].
If you put fuel in the cylinders and it starts then quits and won't stay running even after repeating a couple times its probably frozen. I have heard that a blow drier or maybe even pouring hot water over the pump will thaw it out, but as I don't own a Viper I have not tried this. Best is to get it in where its warm over night.

Wanna sell yours to me Doug?? I am looking for another sled. could trade you my V Max as a partial...lol... The pump thing was a first for me and I have riding in alot of powder, but I did take the sled to the car wash a little while ago... Yes I do baby her..and like the girlfriend says, better than I baby her...lol...
 
I checked everything as far as hitting the kill switch, etc. I have done that before....LOL

I am going out in the morning, I will try to spray some fuel in the cylinders.... if that doesnt work, I will try the fuel pump idea. If that doesnt work, well I will drag it out with the quad, and have to take the carbs off, etc.

Always something ;)!
 
Well I should have just taken the time yesterday, and done things right. I was an idiot, and wasted my time doing it.

Today, I went to the barn, got my squirt bottle of fuel, went to the sled, pulled one plug out... put some fuel in.... turned the key, and ONE pull and it started. Now it smoked heavy because it hasnt been run hard, and hasnt moved since last winter, so it probably had some oil sitting in the bottom of the pipe to clear out. It only did that for a short period of time.

Took it for a quick boot around the field, and see seems ready to go.

Now I just have to take care of some of the belt squeal I have when it is coming back down to idle.
 
It had only sat for 15 days, but the last time it was "run" it ran from inside the barn, to our shed. Not a great distance, and that was when we only had a dusting of snow, and I didnt run it very hard at all. My dad just putted it to the shed, and parked it. He had set it up on the stand and revved it up, but thats about it.
