I am looking at buying an SRX or Viper and could use a little help with knowing what the average mileage you will get out of the 700's before having to go into the bottom end, can anyone give me a few ideas? thanks ahead of time.

I am looking at an 01 SRX with 4900 miles for 2600 or an 04 viper S with 6k miles for 3200, which is the better deal? The viper is a single owner machine all the miles were put on it by a woman. The SRX has a long travel shock from a 04 viper, new bushings in the skid, new bearings in the chain case and on drive axle, re built clutches and the power valves were sent out and had stainless steal heads put on them so the cable doesnt pull through. Which one would you go with?
I only have 1800 on an 02, so looking ahead for many more

I offered the Lady 3k for the 04 viper and she agreed so between the 01 SRX and the 04 viper s which is the better deal?

It is not uncommon to see 10000 on a tripple. The most i have seen is 22000 on original crank... and still running!

depends on what you want, the outa the box muscle and on rails cornering of the srx at the expense of some ride quality on the bumps and some extra weight. or the lighter feel and slightly better ride of the viper at the expense of some stock power.
both are great sleds
both are great sleds

for me this was easy i wanted to have the muscle and handling like a slot car of the srx i figured being 23 could make up for the suspension, i could take a beating and i love when everyone we ride with says how the F***do you ride that sled like that??? "i cant touch it"

7700 miles on my Viper. I have only done the rings and the motor seems sound.

Ah Prior lake, I am in Belle Plaine....what do you think is the better deal, 3k for the 04 viper s with 6k or the 01 SRX with 4900 for 2400??

My Viper had over 9000 miles on her before I did anything. Had to do a bearing on the crank, but now that, thats done I can probably go another 9000... Viper is a nice riding machine and with a few little mods you can top the srx and still have the ride.

Better deal
I have a '98 SRX with about 12,000 miles all stock and the only thing that has been replaced is the track. I think the viper would be a safer buy, female owned would assume less weight and abuse on the machine. I would assume also that all the mods made on the SRX weren't simply because the guy liked to spend money and that would scare me - either because he prematurely wore the components or he runs the machine very hard, not necessarily bad but not what I would want in a used sled.

Scottfly30 - Sounds like a great deal but didn't they quit making the Viper in '04?

my dad had a 2002 sx viper and that went through 2 boys. me and my brother and we didnt ride her easy. it needed new rings at 8600 miles. we never did and and sold it to a friend of ours. he still has it and has 13000 miles on it. it may only have 100 psi in all 3 cylinders but shes still a ticking. the guy is jsut a trail cruiser but he is happy with it.
06 Was the last year for the viper, and it was only availible in the Mountain variation that year.

Close to 15 K miles and counting on an 02(new in 03)Viper ER.Motor never opened up and original valves.I would take the Viper first personally, but I'm a bit partial. The Viper will corner like it's on rails also with a good set-up.
