Just need a question answered. Is a pilot jet 47.5 larger than a 45, and does it richen up the bottom end. I know on the main jets the larger the number the richer your making it, are the pilot jets the same?
 
yes it does. the pilot jets and also the fuel screws only work around idle to maybe going 5 mph. u can usually tell if something is wrong with the fuel air screws or pilots when you wack the throttle from a dead stop . if it coughs or girgles then something is lean or fat. hope this helps
 
thanks, that's what I thought, I just acquired a piped Viper and it really stubbles from dead stop when you hit the throttle. You have to keep pumping on the throttle to smooth it out. I took apart the carbs and noticed that the main jets are 165 which are probably ok but everything else, pilots, needle and pilot screw were all still at stock settings.
 
you better check with the pipe manufacturer about the jetting specs. i just got my viper pipes in the mail yesterday and the specs call for stock pilots and needle settings
