srx base gasket on viper?

just got my pipes and heads delivered the other day. i have read in a few posts about installing a srx base gasket on vipers with pipes. just wondering about the theory on that (cooling?). is it something any of you guys with piped vipers have done.
 
i did the srx base gasket on my buddies SLP piped viper and my own AAEN piped viper. no issues at all on either machine. its a good idea to do it. i see you have AAEN pipes in your avatar. if you need help jetting them, just pm me, as i can help.
 
what's the difference between srx gasket and viper gasket. it looks like we have rain coming in the forecast so i don't mind waiting for one, but obviously i already have a new viper gasket. also, didn't you have your aaen's wrapped in your avatar. i've been meaning to ask about that too. Merry Christmas!
 
It is a mod to be used with stock head, if you use a head with equal compression, you should also use the srx gasket,

the difference is the coolant cutouts in the gasket. i have changed my avatar pic. it used to show aaen wrapped pipes, but it now shows ceramic coated slp's.
 
i've got venom heads for it so it will have equal compression. i would just like to know what the physical differances are between the two gaskets. thanks for the responses.

thanks. ya i was wondering if i should think about wrapping mine like yours. is it for performance, protection from snow?

i believe it is for holding the heat in the pipe making the pipe as hot as possible pulls the charge from the cold side more efficiently but i could be wrong
 
the wrapping keeps the heat in the pipes and makes the pipe be more consistent, so your are getting more consistent hp. they also say that it makes it so the snow doesn't crack the pipes, but its more for heat insulation. same reason that yamaha has heat shields on srx pipes, w/fiberglass underneath. the downside is that the tape holds moisture against the pipes and when the sled is sitting, it causes the pipes to rust.
