Wow, I feel like i just slid out of American Pickers. heard about an older gentleman that had an old Yamaha sled in town... My buddy said "not sure what the hell it is...Liquid cooled, 2 carbs, 2 pipes...big honkin hole in the hood..wanted like $200 for it...." Well the owner, Retired, had gone back to Houston, and it was at his 84 year old mother's house. she called him on my phone and a deal was struck, as her terrier attempted to chew my leg off.... all he knew was ' he never ran it, but the guy he bought it from raced it." Came with about 6 new belts and a pile of new skags....

well after we tracked it down today. we had to crawl over a junk trailer, 4 wheeler, old storm windows, flower pots and gallons of old cooking Grease.

We rummaged through the blue tarps, and finally unearthed an SRX, perfect seat, little crack or two in the hood, so-so track.

I read here about a bent crank causing bogging. We cleaned the old fuel out, dosed it with some gumout, and refilled it, and some new plugs. it has a pretty bad bog, but if you keep it pinned, hold onto your azz, cause it's just flat out stupid fast. (as in, would eat our polaris 500 efi sks' lunch....)

It seems to be clearing up. I'm gonna check the carb syc and the possibility of a bad crank seal. It has twin fuel pumps.....

As with all old 9 digit vin numbers, resources to check out exactly what it is, (and our pristine Enticer 340) are about non existant

the vin is 8J0-002246

ok sorry!

the engine clutch works great....the driven clutch seems to slide back and for a little.....but does seem to return correctly.....

actually chief, i havent picked the track yet...and that's pretty much 'glare ice', so the danger of a flop isn't really there....(and I've ridden 'a little' ;) )

she's no virgin, so I'll be lookin for a newer (Better) pan and bumper assembly, and have tracked down an original type seat cover, I think in leiu of a new track, I'll cat paw the existing track to get it thru the winter, just on the outside runs of it.

hey for $300 bucks, I'm gonna have a little fun with it,and I have a penchant for 'doing things' in overkill mode...I also have a 340 Enticer, I think an 80 that I have $241in that my 14 year old runs. Took about a week to combine a couple of sleds to build this in a week. shaved head, advance key and K&N filter assy. yeah the stripes don't match but it'sall good. Kids are havin a ball with it, and it's my favorite of the 5 we have....

told my 16 year old (been racin cars since me was 11, karts when he was 6, and has 144 wins in 179 starts) that I have a challenge goin: his Polaris Indy 500 efi/sks vs the 'jurassic park' SRX.....he was a lil snotty at first but he did a little research...will post the vid of his shellacin when we do it.

'old age and treachery always overcomes youthful exhuberence...'

i think the only thing that saved him from the 'lawn dart' scenario was the throttle as he was airin......

Wow it would take one hell of a lot of beer for me to do something that stupid. Thats one of the funnier videos I have seen in a while.
