Wow, I feel like i just slid out of American Pickers. heard about an older gentleman that had an old Yamaha sled in town... My buddy said "not sure what the hell it is...Liquid cooled, 2 carbs, 2 pipes...big honkin hole in the hood..wanted like $200 for it...." Well the owner, Retired, had gone back to Houston, and it was at his 84 year old mother's house. she called him on my phone and a deal was struck, as her terrier attempted to chew my leg off.... all he knew was ' he never ran it, but the guy he bought it from raced it." Came with about 6 new belts and a pile of new skags....
well after we tracked it down today. we had to crawl over a junk trailer, 4 wheeler, old storm windows, flower pots and gallons of old cooking Grease.
We rummaged through the blue tarps, and finally unearthed an SRX, perfect seat, little crack or two in the hood, so-so track.
I read here about a bent crank causing bogging. We cleaned the old fuel out, dosed it with some gumout, and refilled it, and some new plugs. it has a pretty bad bog, but if you keep it pinned, hold onto your azz, cause it's just flat out stupid fast. (as in, would eat our polaris 500 efi sks' lunch....)
It seems to be clearing up. I'm gonna check the carb syc and the possibility of a bad crank seal. It has twin fuel pumps.....
As with all old 9 digit vin numbers, resources to check out exactly what it is, (and our pristine Enticer 340) are about non existant
the vin is 8J0-002246
