Just put the carbs on the sled with new fuel lines that are nice and clear, poured some premix in the carb boots and fired it up, watched the new lines and no gas popped the gas cap and there is some gas in the tank and its not vacumme locked. two more attempts and still nothing coming out of the pump.

I am thinking it is one of two things
Bad fuel pump
Clogged fuel line/filter etc.. from tank to pump.

The sled has been taking a couple pulls to start over the last year or two and am thinking this was a result of the fuel pump.

What is the best way to test this.
Is there a good way to inspect the line from the tank i see if can be removed from the top and the filter should be attached to that line.

This is on my 96 600 Twin XT.

Did you check the impulse line from the case? It could be cracked and the pump is not getting enough vacuum to pump right. The impulse line is the one that runs from the case on the motor to the pump, it is bigger than the others.

Or, can you blow into the tank and force fuel through the lines?

You said there is gas in the tank but how much? Had one once that showed gas in the tank but would not suck fuel no matter what I did, including blowing in the tank with the compressor. Had good pulse to the pump so figured it was time for a pump rebuild, but to my surprise it was because there was so little gas in the tank that the line had somehow got on top the gas and filled with air. Once it got air in it it just floated on top of the gas in the tank and would not suck fuel. After a lot of head scratching and cursing I finally realized the line was on top of the gas, added some more to force the line to the bottom and she started within a couple of pulls and has been fine ever since.

interesting its around 1/4 of a tank or so.
My arctic cat was like that i always had to have the tank 1/2 or more to start it if it sat for a few days.

The sleds at the parents house so maybe i will stop over there tomorrow and try and add pressure to the tank and/or fill it with more gas and try as well.

Update:
Took the fuel pump out and it was full of oil (also had some from the pulse line input).

I presume this is because of a large amount of oil in the crankcase that flowed back in to the pump over the summer? as the trailer was leaning back with the nose of the sleds up.

We cleaned all of that up re-installed the pump drained all of the old gas and I am going to get 10gallons of Fresh gas to drop in there and see what she does (I Hope she starts :) )
