tss problems

so i have a tss on the left side that is lazy if compressed all the way seems to get stuck... i have no idea where to start i know nothing about tss what options do i have? what could be wrong with it ? its not leaking just lasy...
 
most likely the bushings in the knuckles are frozen up, need to take steering knuckles apart and grease/replace bushings and bolts as needed.
 
It sounds bent.....is the strut tower ever been hit , or dented? The strut inside has a very skiiny shaft and bends easily. If its bent ...it will jam when it travels into the strut only if it goes down that far. had the same issue.....dry bushings will not stop it from coming back up.
 
On every used T.S.S. sled I've bought the Knuckles and steel bushing are almost frozen or completely locked up and pivoting on the bolts ! I've bought sleds that the locked up joints won't even allow the springs to return let, alone the struts to work when hitting a bump. The T.S.S sleds have always gotten a bad rap for slop developing when the ungreased steel bushing's freeze up they grind away on the nylon washers ! I have sleds that are 15+ years old that have never had a bushing kit and are almost as tight as new. Just take the knuckles and the ski mounts apart every other year and grease !
 
i have to agree...I should have added that.....to take it all apart is no big deal...then u can fiqure what is binding...the knuckles, the joints the struts etc.....
 
Mine was doing the same thing when I bought it (leaning to the left). I took the scissor arms apart, cleaned everything up, and greased it all good and it seems to be fine now.
 
I had this happen to me a few years ago and I ended up replacing the strut itself. The knuckles and bushings will give you extra "slop" (free play) in the steering, but I do not think it will keep a compressed strut from returning to "up" position.
 
I have 4 of those struts that all appear to be in good condition and they seem to be just a hydraulic strut. None of the 4 push the rod back out by themselves when you push it in but there is a lot of resistance both ways. Based on that, it would seem that it is the springs that are returning the suspension back to the "up" position and not the struts.
