1980 enticer 340 engine issue

having low end bog. both pistons at 95 psi. New pistons and rings put in two years ago-no miles.

Temp gun showing pto 30-40F cooler than mag and plug lighter color.
How do you now if the timing is good? Whats the specs?

Also lights not working.

ideas?
 
needs a crank seal most likely. with it running spray quickstart or brake cleaner, spray behind the clutch. if the rpms increase, the crank seal is bad. have one in the shed that is this way after we eliminated all the carb boot air leaks.

is idle set high enough? it is supposed to be 1800 rpm.

is the key turned on to headlamp? if it is check the bulbs 1st to see if they are good.

if the flywheel was not removed, the timing should be ok.

check the wires where they come out from behind the flywheel through the rubber grommet as they like to break there.

should be a good enough start for you.
 
Thanks. I did spray some ether behind the primary and found nothing. I'm going to check the carb boot again just to be sure.

I changed out the lighting coil a few years ago but it never did work again... Don't seem to be getting any power out of the coil.

clean your clutch look for any worn parts your clutch spring might be broke or weak also try a new belt this helped mine it was like day and night
i can now pull the skis with ease and the bet part is no more bog
