Best studs?

I am running a 1 inch track and want to re-stud. I have next to no traction from standstill to about 35-40 mph. I am curently running 144 woodys 80 deg. 1.25 and I was thinking of going to the 60 deg. 1.3 w/196 studs? I want to hook up like a rocket but still have durability. Any sugg?

I would do 192 studs forsure.If your talking about a woody size 1.175" is the max otherwise you will tear everything up.Even with the 1.175" you will need to keep your track tight.Any stud you run will still spin from a dead stop.Unless you run ice picks and are on hard pack or ice.Transfer rods will also help alot if you dont have them.

If you want that kind of hookup and durability you need a 1.25 ripsaw with 192 studs, 8 tooth drivers, potential gearing change etc. With the 1 incher you may never be able to pull a WFO style holeshot and not spin the heck out of it. Even the 1.25 setup wont completely bite like that and it will cost you top end and add weight.
 
Yea but on hard pac / lake my 1" should be better suited than the 1.25 all I will do with 1.25 in that situation is waste top end...That's why I thought more and slightly longer studs? I have adjustable rods and all just want a better hole shot...I see guys on here say there running 1.5 inch track unstudded with no rub so theoretically a 1.3 stud should have plenty of clearence? If I go to 8tooth driver my trailability gets worse.??
 
144 1.075 megabites. use a combination of the 7* angled double & single backers. you also need adjustable transfer rods. i use this combo in my 800sxr trail sled ( 160 h.p. ) & it hooks up great. 192 is overkill & just adds rotating weight. this setup ran 123 mph in 2000' @ nbssr on ice w/ a 1" predator. bender has all of the above in stock.

I'm not sure about a 1.5 clearing without at least smaller drivers. But the 1.3 studs might just clear the front heat exchanger and they might nick it up some. I think the issue with that length of stud on on 1 inch track will be bending and possible tear out. I defer to what bob said, It sounds like he knows his stuff and has been at this quite awhile. Bottom line is though without pics designed for drag racing I think you are going to spin no matter what at launch on ice.
