hey fellas, I'm setting up my suspension for a 1000ft speed run in a couple of weeks. I loosened the front spring preload, tightened the limiter straps, skid front shock is stiff, transfer rods are set for zero transfer and rear shock is a bit loose. Should I adjust my full rate adjuster or just leave it in the middle setting? This is going to be interesting........my wife picked up an 05 F7 EFI :dunno: that I'm also going to run w/ full exhaust and clutch kit, and am really interested to see how these compare. 2 totally different feeling sleds and each fast in their own way. The SRX with the clutching i currently have seems to have way more out of the hole but then mid range the F7 seems to really scream....I have yet to see top speed on both sleds this year but both speedos have showed around 98-100mph pretty quickly in colder temps. on hard pack then i let off.....havent tried any long lake runs yet

Find a good one let me know. Trying to set my viper for 1000ft. bender pipes mild porting, vforce reeds, bender 23 cc dome head. speed track 196 chisels. Spinning out of the hole. Then biting about 100 feet out.

Just trying to get it set up at this point. Some one at bender gave me set up. Not sure its working. Seems to need more bite out of the hole. They told me 1 inch shock shaft showing in front. Crank as much preload in front of skid and 1 1/2 showing rear shock.

Sounds like a good start, You really don't want much ski lift to speak of just enough transfer to make those studs dig in. On good ice it should launch fairly hard. Just be sure those studs are good and sharp....

Thanks timd Mr.viper seems to know what he's talking about so i'll try it. Trying to keep rotating wieght down. Would like to get it hook with 196. Where are you in Maine? I have done alot of riding in Maine.

196 studs is ALOT of extra rotating weight, not something I would want for for 1000ft speed runs. Drag racing and speed runs are the same as letter A is to letter Z.

lolllllllll good one i like it :2strokes:

We are drag racing 1000ft. Just bunch on guys on lake. They are all telling me need 240. Have speed track. I am all for keeping rotating weight. Put Mr.vipers suspension set up in it today. Hope to try it out tomorrow. I see a lot of you guys running big slits in helix. I am running 8bu 10s with a 4945 helix. Also have a 54 44 should i be running that?

He is useing 196 chisels not ice picks!! WAY TO MUCH ROTATING MASS FOR TOP SPEED RUNS!!!!

didn't see you were doing drags till I put up the previous post. for drags YES use chisels. Not sure how you are studded but if you have 2 in the center and one in each outer then you could always add just 1 more to the center so you have 3 in the center. I would think that 196 chisels in a stock sled should hook up good. Are you trail riding this sled? are the chisels sharp? I'm by far an expert on drag racing since we don't do that around here to much but I know the 8bu-00 are a better drag weight for 660' not sure about 1000' though? need to get somebody with drag experience to chime in on that.
