as my post sat night said, my 2000 sxr700(1400 miles) was drinking oil, I would say 1 qt per 40 miles.... was afraid that the oil pump went on me....purchased a MM measure yesterday and went to measure the gap,but instead noticed that the little rubber sheave was pulled up alittle and i believe must have been holding the cable out a bit, because after I fixed this, I rode 40 miles and the oil only dropped like one inch. So I imagine thats what was wrong...by the way, the gap was at 22 mm.... anyways, I also tightend up the throttle cable a bit, I hope I have it correct, the throttle now has 2 mm of free play, im not sure if the cable or the throttle has the free play, but the lever now moves 2 mm before it pulls on the cable.... my last question is, all of a sudden the sled is a pain to start when its warmed up, it takes 2-3 pulls to start it back up, could this have to do with the throttle, or perhaps maybe the plugs are bad from too much oil? and my darn tors still is not working right, and throttle is fine, not sure what else will set off that tors, I had to bypass it for now..thanks for reading, Pete

I always have to give my triples a little throttle when starting them warm, then they start first pull, it seems to be pretty normal with them. If the tors is malfunctioning when you turn make sure the throttle cable is loose enough even when turning.

I think that most yamaha triples need throttle when starting once the sled is warm. Just the nature of the beast, as I have heard this "compaint" many, many times on here, and from other guys with yamahas.
