My 94 vmax 600 is running bad. I rode it yesterday and put about 30 miles on it and it ran fine. We had about 12 inches of snow last nite and went to go ride it today but hear is the problem. It started fine it was 11 dagrees out started to ride but it won't rev up past 4000 and smokes alot no power. I replaced the plugs no change the plugs were wet. I noticed the carbs were really frosty. Any help?

i have run into this problem alot with the vmax twins like this. Snow is getting sucked into the airbox and the carbs. What is happening is there are little holes in the throat of the carbs(at the bottom) that flow air. They get plugged up with snow and dont let the right amount of air in, making the sled run extremely rich. Its a fail-safe kind of thing that richens the mixture(way too much) to keep the snow coming in from taking out bearings and rings.
Take the airbox off and blow the frost off those little air jets and it will run right again.
Only way to fix this problem is to find a way to keep snow from getting down your airbox. Prefilter mesh or something similar does a good job

Well I cleaned the box and the bell of the carbs. Went for a ride it is better but not right. Still has a lack of power. I removed the air box and started the sled if I hold my hand in front of the right Carb it suns better and has snap when I blip the throttle.

you don't want to run it very long like that, it is going to be very lean without the airbox on...

anyway, compression test time i'd say.

putting your hand in front of the carb will richen its mixture. if it runs better like that, it means that carb is running lean. It is very unlikely that one carb will run lean unless it is dirty. Go through both carbs and clean the hell out of them. ALL jet, nozzles and holes.
