was looking on here for ideals
I thought some people installed Apex bars?
looking for a way to raise bars & maybe hooks
trying to get by as cheap as possiable for my 12yr old son
on a 98 v-max 600 XTX

With Apex bars you will need to get a riser. They are not as "stepped" as yours are. I believe you will need atleast 3.5 " rise to get them a little higher than stock. Aftermarket 2" riser and some bolt in hooks would be a cheaper option IMO unless you get the Apex bars for free.

On my 97 I have the rox 2in adjustable riser . So it clamps in to stock handle bar holder then clamps stock bars so u can bring the angle up towards windshield more or lower it. works awesome also have hooks was around 70 bucks I do believe ill see if I can get u part number on riser . Hope it helps

bars from a mtn viper are about 4" taller, mtn max about 2" taller. associated cables would be needed for the viper bars.

i would look into a rox pivot riser. about the cheapest way out and no cables required if you stay with the 3.5" or less. rerouting of the cables will be necessary.

I just put a riser block in my 96 vmax xt the other night, only took about 10 minutes. Only raised it 1-1.5" but I also moved them ahead a couple inches and between the two what a difference. Go to eBay and type in handlebar riser under snowmobile parts, I just did and it came up with 285 of them. All you will need is longer bolts depending on how much riser you go with. I don't think you can get much cheaper and easier than that.

I already adjusted the bars (rolled forward)
so the block wont move them any more foward
I thought bars like Attack would be straighter and have hooks?
then raise them and adjust for fit,
sent a pm to a guy on bars if I get them then I need riser

Can you use 3.5'' riser's on a 96 xt without longer cable's?
