I searched this a little.
Basically I understand the carbs. I am in the middle of something here and noticed someone changed the carb main....
the mains are 143.8 142.5 142.5
should be 145 143.8 143.8
pilots are 45
Since the mains are changes where would you turn the air screw to? does the main affect the where you set the air screw?
Not sure why they changed the mains. Do they seem to small?
thanks Joe

to run better in warmer temperatures, the air screw is 1.5, if this is your 700sxr? so if you plan on coming north and its -20F, you may be to lean where -30F is where you are safe at with the richer mains...i don't have a jetting chart i may be off but you get the idea....CP

thank you...
So no matter what mains are in there you still run the air screw according to the spec in the chart?
It calls for 1.5 turn so always keep it at 1.5?

Was pretty standard to drop the mains to 142.5 on the red head 700. Needles were usually dropped a touch as well. They were pretty rich out of the box.
It's a fuel screw not an air screw. The main really has no effect on where you set the fuel screw. The fuel screw is to fine tune the idle/off idle performance.

Right...it is a long story....I understand almost all of this you guys are saying...
I am cleaning these carbs and found out the mains were changed...
I am trying to get the carbs back together but not sure where the where to turn the screws...
From what I read and understand the mains will only affect the 3/4 to wot...
So the screw stays the same always....
I just wanted to make sure before I put them back together and here the air screw should be 2 instead of 1.5 because of the mains.....
So I will set it at 1.5
mains will be 143.8 142.5 142.5
put it back together and she should run fine...i hope....
thanks guys for the help...
I don't wanna hold up the customer...
ps we just got 5" of snow.....

The fuel screw is a fine adjustment. The 1.5 turns is a guideline. Hence the reason so many places made/sold the fuel screw adjustment knobs. You might have to pull the carbs and adjust the screw multiple times until you get the sled where you want it most of the time.

142.5 across 1 out on the air screw 45 pilots never had an issue with this... Also drop the needles .5...
