I think alot have run without the rear cooler. The head mod?? Most run it or have aftermarket heads.( I ran both last year). EGT's would be a good investment. It could save you alot of $$ in the end. I know from experience.

if not how much trouble am I asking for??
not a big lake racer, just want the power for going out west, boondocking

Run the best fuel you can, and run it a little rich. I ran with the head mod since iv'e had my pipes, but I didn't have A rear cooler for about 800 miles it was o.k.
