bender pipe wrap

can u put header wrap on a bender pipe ...too keep heat and sound out of the engine area??? I just recently installed a single bender on my exciter sx , and its very tinny load under the hood, so I was thinking of wrapping it. Is there consequences with holding in the heat? Cause I'm sure it will toone down the noise a bit.
 
dont buy too wide bandage, I bought 50mm wide and it doesnt work when the pipe bends. buy the 25mm wide one
 
so its afe to keep the heat in the pipe??? Does it tone it down a bit? I don't find the pipe that loud standing beside the machine, but I find it loud riding it.
 
I've had no problems, same with several friends that have them wrapped also. They are of the mindset that the added heat actually makes the pipes more efficient, I'm not sure about that point and did mine just for underhood heat. Wish I would have checked into ceramic coating instead now.
 
I rewrapped my pipes on my srx and I noticed that they got a little quieter and when playing in the powder have a lot less bogging because the pipes stay hotter. I would go for it!

I wrapped mine from the start, upgraded from a single pipe to triple pipes so can't really comment on the noise issue. Just to be clear, not that it really matters my pipes aren't benders.

Only caution i have is to be sure the wrap is dry, dry, dry in the spring or take it off. Moisture sitting between the pipe and the wrap will lead to a big rust problem in a fairly short amount of time...

That's an good/interesting point, the wrap is supposed to be soaked before wrapping. I set mine in front of a salamander heater to dry pipes before intstalling them. BUT after having a coolant hose come loose under the hood I was amazed how long it took for the wrap on the pipes to quit steaming, they definitely hold moisture!!

LOL! While we're at it I'd like to say that I was glad to see you say you like PSI pipes on another thread. When I bought some used PSI pipes for my 94 Vmax 600 and asked for tuning advice from the local small time/no brand snowmobile shop he said his first advice would be not to buy PSI pipes.
 
you actually help with power by keeping in the heat. the engine cool, and the pipes hotter = POWER. that is the reasoning behind people geting their pipes ceramic coated ans such.
