here's the deal 98 sx 700
reed notch, puched out slinecer 49/43 helix,8ab weights with 2.4 rivet in both holes g-p-g primary, stock secondary at70*.stock gearing.it runs great, but now i am experiencing a bog when you wind it up and then back out of it a little then get back into it she bogs pretty bad.but the plugs areent fresh and the gas is old but i through in about 4 gallons of new gas thats when i started getting this bog.it does this sometimes at idle, you will give it the gas and it will go up to about 3000 and wont move, wait til the rpm's come down a bit then she will go.i didnt toche the carbs as far as jetting this all factory settings.also it has a belt on it with quite a few miles on it,but stil in spec. the place i get my gas is pretty good been running it for 4yrs.91 octane without any problems.any ideas?

start with fresh fuel and plugs. if it doesn't get any better, have you cleaned your carbs lately. if you have, then take a few half throttle runs, and check your plugs. you may need to adjust the needle or change pilot jets accordingly. did it bog last year at all? have you done any work/mods since then? if not, chances are it's your carbs.

no bog at all last year, did the silencer last year as well, all the other mods have been done this year the clutch and the reed stoppers

Red, aren't you in da UP? If so, I would check the gas. I have had some fuel that was so bad I am not sure if it would have run the lawnmower.

Check the carbs and gas...clean and change. My second guess is the clutch is messing up on you! Brent

well this is what happened i took it out for a few runs down the field and cleaned it out all seem fine ran really awsome with the reed stopper done the throttle response is like a cable modem,it is always on. stopped at my brothers house and then went up to where i always get gas which i have never had a problem with the gas there sunoco 91-93 octane, rode down to where there is a nice long straight away to check the top end rpms. from a dead stop punched it and she just flew no bog just instant acceleration. rode around the inner trail loop in my area at various speeds to see how it ran, then i ran it up to 8000 rpms let off and then got back into it and thats when i got the bog,but let off on the throttle and let the rpms drop down to 6000 and then jumped on it again and no bog.went up to the store shut it off. came back out started her up and went to take off got up to 3000 rpms and it bogged let off on the throttle, let the rpms drop to 2000 and she took off..i clutches are aligned and offset to. belt deflection is not done yet i will set that with the new belt, old and new gas mixed, old plugs used belt i know thease all play a factor in there somewhere, but if you guys think carbs i will check that out as well.

to me if you ran the sled and everything was fine and after you gas the sled the problems started...I would have to go with the carbs....

u know i had a similar problem, it ended up being the bushing in the primary clutch

also try unhookin the tors....its a funny thing!

I Really Think The Tors Is Acting Up! Anyone No Which Wires Used To By-pass The Tors,my Brother Has My Book Thanks.....

Disconect the two wires at the carbs and plug them in together. I believe that they are brown, but not sure. I haven't had my 97 for over four years.

ya red ,there right under the throttle stop on carbs . Just unhook and hookem together. I had to disconnect mine cause it was acting up also! You gotta watch them cables on the sx there short and are often outta place make sure there seated down in the air box cover real good. Cause when you go to turn they will pull and activate the tors! ....just my experience.

yeah thanks for reminding me the dealer when i bought it had a zip tie on the cables to keep them in place..... you guys are the best
